From what is sounds like you have already made your decision so why even bother going back and forth? From the beginning of this thread everyone has pretty much told you to go straight to http://www.excelsior.edu but you want to go through The College Network. So pay them $8000. I wish I had someone to give me $8000 right now so I could pay for Excelsior and not a middle man.

the one thing that i am struggling with is that the people from the college network guarentee your passing and say theyll send tutors out to you if your not doing well. im afraid to go directly thru excisor because im not sure if the materials they give you are as helpful as the college networks.. they sure are great slaes people haha because i cant decide!
They will send a tutor out after you fail 2 time, in reality if that happens you are already out $400+ then to retest the 3rd time after the tutor is another $200. So NC course can cost you $1100 if you "need" thier guarantee.

If its ADN, go straight to www.excelsior.edu. Also check out the distance learning forum.
Unless you live (and want to work) in California, then go to Indiana State University (ISU). Excelsior is not accepted by the CA BON.
Whether EC or ISU the classes are set up for those that can self study. So if you buy the recomended books from EC and follow the study guide you have a good chance to pass. You and even purchase their practice test (that I hear are well worth it) alot of simular test questions. I have heard people say that the TCN study guides do cover alot of material as well as the same amount say that alot of material that was on the test was not in the guide. The way I see it EC has thier own test, so the info for the test should be in the books they recommend.

I agree with akanini. I don't know how to say this gently, but you sound like you WANT to be fleeced. Car salesmen must love you.
As I said in a previous posting, IF you live in California, EC and College Network are NOT recognized institutions by our Board of Nursing (who will award you your license...or not).
Therefore, IF you live in California, you will have to go OUT OF STATE to obtain your license as a nurse.
Everyone is telling you that this is a gimmick, but this salesman has you convinced that it is the right thing to do. Why is that?

Does anyone know how much the ADN program through EC is? How many books to you have to buy for the NC1? Just curious. I'm going to take a look at the distance learning forum, might find this info there.
Thanks.

To all of the nurses out here in CA make sure that when you choose a program like TCN (ISU) it's because you really need an online program. I am the nursing supervisor at work, Mon-Fri 9a-5pm, Sat 7A-3P so I dont have time for the traditional LVN-BSN like I would like. My only option is on-line so I chose to go through TCN but if you have time to go to school, do it. If you still have the chance find your school first then your work because when you start work you can let them know when you can work. Think of your personal situation and do what best suites you. Dont listen to all the negative and all the positive about any one way of doing your school. Do your research and know what is accredited in your state. Excelsior has been booted from CA. but it might work somewhere else. If you are a new grad dont get in to too many bills with your new paychecks. I was 20 when I became an LVN started at $22/hr then $25/hr and now I get $27/hr and that was what stoped me from doing my school I had to work, wait, and pay off the bills that I got when I got my license.
I appolagiza for the novel but these are some of the realities of young nurses.
Hope I could help.
