ISU FAQ thread

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I thought it might be nice to have the ISU threads divided between an FAQ thread and one for current ISU students. Tweety's idea was to make the ISU Pt. Deux thread the current students one and make a new FAQ one. So if you have questions that are not answered on the first ISU thread then this is the place to ask them. :typing

They have been very helpful to me. You need to be persistant thought! LOL!

The hardest part has been getting through to the Computer Store to pay for the exam fees!! Good Luck!!

I have a few questions for those of you who are in Phase II.

I know you have to complete the 10 courses before enrolling into Phase II but do you enroll into Phase II at the beginning of a semester or can you enroll at anytime. (hope that makes sense). For Phase II do you pay tuition at ISU or just pay for the test outs?

And when do you finish the other general courses needed to finish the degree? Are these done through test outs or do you do them online through ISU.

I got a list from ISU regarding all the classed needed and I was wondering what you all used for Lit, Artisitic & Philosophical Studies (6 hours) and the Multicultural Diversity studies.

Thanks...and I hope some of this makes sense.

Hello,

I am enrolled in ISU, have taken all 4 CSMs, the TEAS, and am applying for Spring 2010. If anyone has questions, would be glad to answer them...

How was the TEAS?

Not horrible, but glad I reviewed the week before taking it...I used a study guide for nursing entrance exams that helped.:specs:

a lot of times people will send out emails to ISU students-through ISU's email..about selling the books needed for the classes you need to test out of. its much cheaper than going through the college network! as far as the TEAS exams go.....its a generalized placement test that doesnt require studding, but you can get the study material through ISU's book store-you can ask them about it when you pay the 40 dollars for the test. hope this helps

I am looking at going through the college network for the LPN-BSN program with ISU. Has anyone else done this? Did you have any issues with the college network or ISU. Is it a good program? Will it be easy to get a job after graduation from and online program?

I would not recommend using TCN. You should be able to find the study guides from other people but entirely up to you. I used TCN and not completely thrilled with them. The sales reps are very misleading regarding information. If you want real information about ISU, contact ISU or look at the posts from many of us. I have enjoyed ISU's program, just wish I hadn't spent all the money on TCN. As far as work, as long as you pass the NCLEX not sure that many employers ask about how you got your degree, just that you have it.

Thanks I think I'll just contact ISU directly then and skip the middle man!

I have been an LPN for the past 7 yrs and want to persue my RN via distance learning.I am very interested in ISU LPN to RN route. Can anyone tell me what 10 classes/pre-requisites need to be done before applying and which ones I can CLEP?? I guess Im looking for a "simple" breakdown from anyone that is on their way in the program or has gone through it.The website that ISU has up is confusing ,I cant figure it out.I have emailed ISU and am waiting for a reply.I got an email saying it may take 1-2 weeks for a reply as they are backed up,so I came here hoping someone could help me:cool:.Havent gotten anywhere by calling either, they keep directing me to a Kim and I have to leave a message.Until then I am here studying my CLEP Human Growth and Development guide ;).Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.I am grateful:redbeathe
