i just uploaded all the required documents for the cpne and paid for it. how long can i wait to bug them for a date? i put all npac sites so hopefully i will receive a date quickly. i also put myself on a cancellation list.

wow i cannot believe this is it. i am getting nervous already just thinking about the cpne. i should really start reading section iv of the study guide. :uhoh3:

oh one more thing. i got a rx for prn xanax 0.5mg (20 pills) from my doc after telling him about my upcoming cpne. i have never taken any kind of narcotic in my entire life and i am wondering when can i take the xanax to see how it will affect me? i also work 3-11 so what is the best time to take it because i don't want to look "loopy" when at work :D. i obviously don't want to find out on the day of the cpne. :D

thanks,

angel

hey good luck with everything!!! I wont be at that point until sometime next year...i have taken xanax for nerves before and if you want to just try it i'd do so on your day off just in case it were to make you sleepy ect. I ended up take HALF of a 0.5 pill and it relaxed me a bit, but i could still function...but thats me...tylenol makes me tired sometimes....anyway, good luck with everything!!!

yeah!!!! isn't that the most final feeling in the world--putting your money down and saying "okay, i'm ready!!" as soon as mine said accepted, i wanted to throw up and say never mind! ha! anyway, i talked to someone last week that applied for npac about the same time i applied for mpac and she's already got a date for late june/early july...so don't be surprised if you get a date soon. i called mpac a couple days after my app was accepted just to make sure they got everything they needed and how far out they're scheduling. who knows, you might be doing workshop one week and cpne the next! we can do it!!! see you soon!! julie

:yeah::yeah::yeah:

After they accepted my app.I called to see what the process was, and how long the waiting list. I then sam that someone posted about getting a cancellation date. I called that same day, and got a date for June 18. So it was about a week for me. Good Luck!

NPAC has been scheduling people in a matter of days. Call for a cancellation date if you want to get it really fast. Good luck.

Get yourself organized and start gathering mnemonic for your POC. Don't rush the process. You have to soak in the studyguide ,make your POC flow and master those labs. Do whatever it takes to make sure you understand the process. As far as Xanax, not sure. I just learned deep breathing and I talked to GOD the whole weekend and asked him to guide my steps. That was my xanax but you have to do whatever it takes to get through that very stressful weekend.

Hello agldragon

I'm in the process of studying to take my CPNE in July. I have been working in the mental health and drug addiction rehabilitation for almost 9 years and just wanted to give you some advise on the xanax. It is a Benzodiazepine, which could slow your alertness and it could be addictive if it is mis-used. (I'm sorry to be forward but is my nursing side that is talking) I will recomend you to stick with deep breathing and other relaxation techniques. Good luck in your exam and keep practicing your AOC and labs. You will pass!!!

Xanax is very helpful. I recommend you take it prior to the CPNE to see how it affects you. It makes me calmer and helps me concentrate. I got my RX after I bombed my CPNE. Also, take the week before the CPNE off, if possible. I didn't and was so tired when I got there. Have someone else drive you. I was also tired from driving myself. Mom is driving this time. Of course, three days in a hotel room with peace, quiet, and a boatload of paperback novels had nothing to do with her decision to drive me:p

Above all else, know your critical elements inside and outside and asleep. Take section H out of the study guide and practice writing care plans. Submit care plans to Dr. A at EC for critique. Know how to document - examples are in every section of the Critical elements part of the study guide.

Just my advice, I have learned an expensive lesson by not being properly prepared, even though I thought I was. Also, others failed for these reasons when I was there.

Best - Deb
