Excelsior grads-

Nursing Students Online Learning

I would like to know- did you HONESTLY feel prepared to be an RN after graduation? I'm starting a 12 month program for my LPN in October and I'm thinking about Excelsior for the RN portion. I'd *like* to get my RN through the school I'm getting my LPN with, but we might be moving out of the area before I could (military).

Honest opinions? Also- how much is the tuition for LPN-RN?

Specializes in LTAC, Telemetry, Thoracic Surgery, ED.

I do. I was also an LPN with 1 year experience with good underlying experience from where I was working.

Specializes in Trauma,ER,CCU/OHU/Nsg Ed/Nsg Research.

I did. I had 7 years experience as a level 1 trauma LPN in a teaching hospital before I got my RN.

I feel qualified to be an RN now and am waiting to take the CPNE. Why? I've worked the floor.

My clinical experience in LPN school was terribly limited and did not prepare me to be an LPN.

I love Excelsior.

Excelsior has run me around $5k, I think, excluding the CPNE workshop and books. The same as a year in a community college with no commuting/gas expense while earning money.

Thank you so much for the replies- everyone. 5K for the LPN-RN Bridge?? WOW, I thought it was so much more then that. I will definitely be looking more into it. Thanks!

Sue ,

My Clinical experience was also very limited in LPN school am getting most of mine now, hopefully I'll be prepared when its time for my CPNE

Specializes in LTC, case mgmt, agency.

While I feel prepared to work as an RN, I would say, make sure you get help in developing your clinical skills by asking RN's you work with to show you techniques, etc. For me this was invaluable. My co-workers have been my biggest support. The money was not as bad as I thought. It's been more than the local technical college but less than a private college.:D
