BSN online - looking for creditable degree

Curious as to why UOP is not acceptable where you are? What kind of accredidation are you looking for. UOP claims to be accredited, but I'm not sure what their accredidation is. Maybe someone else can answer.

I choose to go to Florida Hospital College of Science. They have an online, National League of Nursing accredidation.

I am currently looking for a creditable online BSN program. I have heard bad things about the University of Phoenix - degree does not hold much water from the area of the country where I live.

University of Phoenix is accredited by the Higher Learning

This topic is currently being flogged beyond death in multiple threads. I am curious about where you live as well. My education is well respected by colleagues and my employer. I already passed the NCLEX 4 years ago, so the Bachelor's degree I am currently pursuing as well as the future Masters degree are mainly for my own benefit, though if I shift gears down the road and decide to do something else with my career those degrees will mean something. OK, that was a mouthful, but will someone enlighten me as to what the problem seems to be when an LPN can complete a distance program and take the same NCLEX as everyone else? Yes, I know there are a couple of BON who have different criteria! But I researched my own BON before starting the program years ago; it is not for everyone.

I want to point out that more and more colleges/universities are creating distance learning programs. UoP is also very popular with my business degree colleagues. Goes back to that "gotta work fulltime and have the education" theory. My own personal opinion is that the guys at Regents (Excelsior) started this trend and now UoP is doing great with it! Personally, I am very satisfied with my program at Florida Hospital College :) :balloons:

I did the UofP BSN completion and at least here in central Illinois - its fine! I'm doing the MSN now and again - I get loads of positive comments at work...just curious...good luck with whatever option you pursue.

I live in Iowa....no hospitals around here will help pay for a BSN at UOP.

Gee - come on over to Illinois - many hospitals here will. BTW - I am from the Quad Cities and have recently considered Genesis Healthcare - they cover UofP. Don't know if this is an option or not.

I would like to put my two cents in and say I find it to be the most convenient and wonderful program. All the staff at UOP are more than happy to answer my questions.

Will your employer not pay for BSN period or just not online or what? My employer only pays $800 a year and they couldnt care less where I am attending.
