BSN online - looking for creditable degree

Published

Hi everyone!

I am currently looking for a creditable online BSN program. I have heard bad things about the University of Phoenix - degree does not hold much water from the area of the country where I live.

Is there a website that I can go to to research online programs. Clinical hours are not a big issue because I believe you need the clinical time for your BSN degree because it is different then RN clinicals.

Please advise.

Thanks

I live in NE Iowa, near Waterloo. I am currently taking health assessment, and my Patho transfered so I do not have to take it again.

Have you looked into Allen College which is in Waterloo they have an online RN-BSN program now. E-mail them, they'll send you a ton of info. You can find info here: http://www.allencollege.edu/body.cfm?id=20

OR

You can try the University of Iowa they have several sites that are done via ICN. They have several different sites around iowa. You can find info here: http://www.nursing.uiowa.edu/academprog/rn-bsn/#r6

Hope this helps a bit!

I live in the metro Atlanta area. Anyone in the area familiar with Univ. of Phoenix in this area? online or their local campus?

I completed my RN-BSN through University of Missouri, Columbia's online program.

"To complement the weekly online assignments, students may need to visit the MU campus one to two times per semester. "

Does this program really require online students to visit the campus?

Yes. I drove there once or twice per semester.

I'm in Kansas City, MO...the drive was only a couple hours.

Many traveled further than that for the program.

There was one student from Arizona and another from Ohio that made the required trips.

oooooh, I see. I think I will continue to look for a different program as I have been there done that with DCN. The program looks great unfortunately that is too much time & money for traveling for me.

It does look like a good program. Maybe they would make alternate arrangements for out of state students. You never know, some colleges are very flexible. Unfortunately, this program requires the dreaded statistics class.Yuck :nono:

Are you kidding?!?!

Stats was the EASIEST math class I ever took...and I'm NO math major by any means. I had to take College Algebra TWICE to pass.

Did you take stats online.

No, I went to a local community college during the summer.

Darn, I was hoping you were going to give me a great link to an easy stats course :)
