That would depend on your state's board of nursing - best thing to do is ask them.

Boards of nursing tend to frown upon prospective applicants who have committed crimes against persons, especially violent crimes. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if your state board says No, at least for now if the offense was recent. The only way to find out, like the above poster said, is to ask the BON directly.

Even if the BoN says yes, I can't think of anywhere I've ever worked that would hire someone with such a blemish on his background check. Getting the certification is one thing, getting a job is another.

There are certain convictions where it being dropped to a misdemeanor means nothing. Anything to do with violence, abuse, neglect or theft seem to follow you everywhere you go, forever. Good luck though!
