Got a Second Job! Help!

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I am a new nurse with 6 months of experience. I was hired into a contingent (minimum of 16 hours a month to be worked) position (thats all that was available) but working full time hours because I need the money (no benefits or CTO). I have been working for this company for 2 years but for 6 months as a nurse. I interviewed for a full time position at a company VERY close to my house and accepted the position. I plan on keeping the contingent job I have, but actually working contingent hours now, how do I go about telling my boss I accepted a full time position (with benefits) and am keeping this other one as my second job/contingent? Any help would be great! Thanks :)

Just reduce your availability. That's the great part about contingent/prn. You don't owe an explanation, IMO.

As a professional courtesy you let her know as early as possible that you will no longer be able to work as many hours as of such and such date, but you will be honoring the expectation of the job.
