Called the Nurse Manager

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I called the nurse manager this morning, I didn't expect her to answer but she did (!!!!) so I had to quickly gather myself and asked her about an update on my application. She said that HR should be contact me and to look on the Montefiore website (whats on the web?) What am I looking for she didn't say and she seemed as if she was in a rush. Im starting to think I didn't get it because wouldn't she have given me a better answer than that?

I know this is an old thread but surprised no one caught this. Employers do not simply look at your resume for your job history. Your job history is tied to your social security number. Any legitimate job that you've held will pop on a background check. Omitting a job from your resume, only to have it found on the background check, is probably an even bigger black mark than having a job that you only worked for two weeks on your resume. Because that's lying.

Well guess they gotta go after a majority of people on the work force...

Wow . So young with such bad attitude. Oh well, you need to tone it out because once you start working with other nurses you will need to learn how to take criticism . Advice , do not stress yourself out as you are already . Don't take the psych Job and continue to look elsewhere where you feel happy . I know a girl who left orientation to follow her dream job and got banned from coming back to NSLIJ . Now if you know , NLIJ is a huge hospital system . I have an interview with NYP coming up soon , and they want all mg job history for the past 10 years . You cannot lie. Life is complicated , it comes with decisions and choices plus outcomes !!!!! Welcome to adulthood . Drop the attitude , you need to be mellow and learn how to control your emotions . I really hope you get the job ! Good luck !!!

Specializes in geriatrics, IV, Nurse management.

Yes I know, try telling that to African parents. But anyway if I work there it would be temporary until I get my hospital job. So I would still be going on interviews and waiting for offers in the meantime. So I would only be stuck there until my offers come in. So if I'm only there for 2 weeks (shrugs shoulders) and get the offer i want, I would quit and not include it on my resume. Waiting just sucks you know?

Only 2 weeks? Do you realize how much time and energy goes into orientation? I just hired one that left after a week. What a waste of time to even be entered into a payroll system.

Specializes in PDN; Burn; Phone triage.

I don't think the majority of people lie about their work history, esp. their recent work history, if that's what you're trying to say. (I can see omitting a job you held for a few months a decade ago. But most places specifically ask for everything in the last 5-7 years.) Otherwise I'm not getting your comment but I just got off night shift so I'm a little sleepy. :/

There is no attitude. If you want to think there is some type of attitude because of my opinions about some things then fine. But my question (if you read the very beginning of the thread) was about how long it should take to hear from a job. That was it. Yea yea I know that we are nurses and people feel the need to assess the whole situation, but my second option was never in the question. Any normal person would feel ganged up on, so if you think I have an attitude then sorry.

No worries honestly, I just hope I get the job I want soon so I hopefully won't have to go through that. Leaving another place soon after I start to go into my dream job is a worst case scenario. Besides its a part time position so if I leave to pursue a full time position then it won't seem so bad.

Sadly a lot of people do but that's neither here nor there. Hopefully I get the job so I won't have to go through all of that messiness.

Well if you were really getting your *Dream* job. don't you think the nurse manager would've call you by now ? I'm just saying .

Every place is different. And from what I've been reading time frames vary for when they call you. But I did call HR and they said there's no update yet so who knows. I've applied to other places too so all my eggs aren't in one basket. Hopefully I'll hear back soon. ***fingers crossed***

Nslij has the ED fellowship open application for a few days . Check it out .
