Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Specializes in Mother Baby RN.

I am graduating in February and am trying to put together a portfolio. I can't really seem to find any specifically geared toward nursing per se, so I was wondering what all should I include? So far, I'm thinking of Cover Letter, CV, Resume, photo, Awards/certifications, and Recommendation Letters. Am I missing anything?

Also, I figure a lot of my applications are going out online, how do I let them know I have a portfolio or how would I broach that in an interview?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Majority of places you apply to only accept applications online. Most have a section where you can upload additional documents like certifications, resume, cover letter, transcripts, etc. That is where you can provide those documents. I would also have them available for when you go on interviews, if they ask for another copy or if you have updated them since you applied online.

Many companies/facilities will not accept a resume/portfolio if a photo is included/attached so that there is no opportunity for bias or discrimination based upon appearance.

I walked in with my portfolio in hand in case anyone wanted to see it. I filled out the online application and attached my Cover Letter and Resume. My employer only accepted official letters of recommendation and not personal references. At the very end of my interview the Internship Coordinator reviewed my portfolio.

My Portfolio: Cover Letter, Resume, Certifications, Licenses, Awards/Recognition, CEUs
