Interview Thank You Letter

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello! I had an interview yesterday for a nurse extern position at my dream hospital. I need to write a thank you email (I wanted to send an email rather than a letter so it gets to her fast while I'm still in her recent memory and the decision may be soon I don't want the letter taking too long)...

I was wondering if you guys have any opinion on a thank you email reiterating all my skills and why I'm right for this position or one that's short and sweet and simply thanking her for her time. Thank you in advance for any help! Also, if you have any suggestions of specifics to include.. please don't hesitate, all help is very appreciated!

Also,

I posted this in the general nursing discussion board rather than the student one because I figured this pretty much applies to any nursing interview not just extern positions!

Nope, short and sweet and thank her for her time. It's a thank you, not a cover letter.

Agreed. I'd only elaborate if you have something pertinent to add to the interview conversation (I was stumped in the interview for my first job when asked if I had a particular nurse I wanted to emulate, then afterwards realized - of course, my mom, the awesome CVICU nurse/research coordinator!).

Thank you for your help! Is there anything you can think of that I can include/attach that's not obnoxious that will really make me stand out..? They interviewed a total of around 200 people for the hospital (not sure how many on the specific unit I did). I know I do have a lot of experience and would be a great extern I'm just nervous I'm not too good at interviews my nerves usually get the best of me and I would love to do something that would really make me stand out. Thank you!

Just send a short thank you. I wouldn't include anything else unless it's absolutely pertinent to the position you've interviewed for.
