Nurses Job Hunt

Is pants or skirt more professional?

What kind and color top is best?

If bottoms are black should blazer be black or can it be another color?

Also how should hair be done? Up or down gor long hair?

To me, it doesn't matter all that much. I wore khakis and a silky shirt and I got the job. Hair...doesn't matter. Just clean and neat.

The classic advice is to dress for a job that's one level up from the one you're applying for. Assuming you are pursuing a staff nurse position, my advice is: Hair up, and under good control, not fetchingly wispy, either. Nice skirt and jacket, a suit if you have one but otherwise at least looking good together, no sandals, one pair of small earrings, no acrylics if it's a bedside/pt care job, neat bag in good condition with an extra two copies of your resume in envelopes in it, shoes clean and polished.

Good luck!

I don't put my hair up, never have unless working.

I never wear a skirt to interview stuff. I wear a nice suit: black pants and black jacket or colored jacket (I have a slate blue one that goes well). A white shell cotton blouse short sleeve higher neckline - no plunge. Sometimes a matching scarf that is not tied but rather goes inside the collar and hangs - not flashy. I wear lower-heeled black pumps - always wear nylons (pants = knee-hi)! Smallest ball-type earrings and clear nail polish if any. Minimal makeup, but honey, if you look better with makeup wear it!!!!! just mild application and mild color - don't forget your concealer if anything.

I agree with those above. I tend to wear navy blue, it is usually more flattering color for me than black. Can't go wrong with navy blue, imo.

For some jobs, if it is summer, sometimes i wear khaki or tan colors.

ANYONE going through 'the change', or likely to sweat (like, it's 90degrees outside),-------- avoid SILK, which is very unforgiving fabric if you have even made one drop of sweat. I also avoid linen, as it wrinkles too much.

I wear my hair up or pulled back, as my curly hair is difficult to look 'neat' otherwise. I think my hair looks nice down, but neat? nope.

But some people do have hair that can look neat when down,

but, i am not one of them.
