Follow up email

I had an interview 2 wks ago(#1) how do you word a follow up email? I've already sent a thank you note. I also would like to include some questions about the position I didn't get to ask, forgot to, during the interview. Like when does the residency start, the hours, contract, etc unless you think I should not include those. I know someone that works at this place and say it takes like 6mos to get hired. However I interviewed else where(#2) and I'm afraid that they will offer a job and I don't want to miss out on that if job #1 doesn't offer a job. And don't want to pass up #2 if #1 falls through. I also don't was to take #2 and end up quitting in 6 mos for #1

Anyway I've never done a follow up email. And I wanted to see more about what this job #1 is requiring of me if possible.

I wouldn't ask any questions about start date, a contract or the schedule until you get an offer. Is this a union hospital? If not, there probably won't be a contract involved.

I am sure they will tell you if/when they offer you the job. If you ask when your start date is before receiving an offer, they may view this as presumptuous.

This is really good. The only thing I might add is something to the effect of: I am curious as to if you have a timeline of when a decision will be reached.

Just because I am sure that most managers know that jobs are scarce, and people need to plan.
