Hi Ashley, welcome to allnurses. I moved this to Canadian Nurses as it is specific to your country. Here in the US we don't have either title RPN or PSW.

hi Ashley.Welcome.To become a PSW you will have to enroll in a RPN program.I am PSW and I am in my fourth out of five semester RPN program. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.Good luck:Ball:

I want to know about the "bridge program" as well. I heard that before...but can't find any related information. Can somebody please help? Thank you so much!

There is no bridge from PSW to RPN. You can bridge from RPN to RN however.

That course does not give you your RPN diploma. It is 2 days /week for 14 weeks. The RPN course is 5 semesters long and takes 2.5 years to complete if you go full time.

You take this program and then you take the RPN program just like anyone else. It is not neccessary to take it to take the RPN program and it doesn't make the program any shorter.

It does make it shorter as you get credits for your psw prgm when you go through the bridging prgm...

You've revived a thread that started in 2006. A lot changes in four years.

You get no credit for having your PSW already.

In Ontario, PSW's get a credit for the first Semester for the bridging program. They are put into second semester I do believe. I know Sir Sandford Fleming College does the PSW to RPN briding program, but they are in Peterborough - a fair ways away from Niagara Region
