Anybody who will be taking the CRNE on October 5, 2011, please post your comments and suggestions here like making a study group, sharing notes, meeting at the library or anything that will help the examinees pass the examination. Thanks!

Hi guys,

I am waiting for my result also. I live in Mississauga. Waiting is simply horrible. I have a question. Do you guys remember anything from that exam? I do not intend to discuss any question but I am just curious because I personally feel like I never wrote that exam! With the exception of 5-6 questions that I was able to check with my friend who also wrote the crne in Oct '11 right after the eaxm, now I am not able to remenber anything...could be posttraumatic stress or am I totally crazy? I also planed to continue studying just in case you know...guess what, I am not able to focus at all!

Same here! I dont recall any exact questions and options... very vague. Its weird! And I am really nervous about the outcome

I just thought of joining this website today. I too, took the October 5th CRNE and am very worried about the results. I guess this is a good venue to share my fear. What's worse than this fear of not passing the CRNE is that knowing that I might lose a great job that I got hired for if I don't pass.

I just got hired full-time in a teaching hospital which I really love and will be using a temp license which has not come out yet. It just drives me crazy about the possibility of not being successful and losing the job too. I am on orientation now and each day that passes makes me realize how I really love this job that I got. I am praying that we'll make it through.

I can imagine your struggles! I pray also; this is the only thing we can do besides staying positive…What province do you live in? I am asking because Ontario does not offer much in terms of nursing jobs right now (especially Toronto area). How did you manage to get your first RN job? I am doing some research and trying to figure out what the employers can offer and it is like catch 22…they require you additional courses and specialized certifications if it is to apply for acute care settings. On the other hand, you’ve just graduated and are essentially in debts with osap (in my case) so it is impossible to fulfill their requirements (additional courses and certificates)… I am not clear on what should I do (go again for some courses or simply apply no matter what)…Maybe you can give me some direction/advice and a little bit of discussion aside of concerns related to the exam will help all of us…Anyways, thanks and all the best.

There are 2 weeks more and I hope you will keep your position.

Hey therapeutics, I am from TO. Same thing being loaded with OSAP debt. I was lucky enough to get a job with my pregrad placement and that's how I got in. I guess I was able to do something right during my last placement. The position was not posted but the nurse manager of the unit did give me a heads-up on my last day of clinical.

I was talking to some of the other new staff on orientation and some wrote the CRNE last year. They said last year they had a difficult time finding jobs. The positions they got though, they found out from acquaintances who were working in the hospital so the referral system seems to be very important.

Thank you for your sincere and prompt response. I think you did excellent in your clinical and you will do very well in the exam. I was not that lucky with my last clinical...the school sent me to do Occupational health and I enjoyed it only due to a great preceptor and wonderful people from HR...it was a small chronic hospital...I know I have all doors open there but my dream is to be an OR nurse or a NICU nurse...I used to work in general surgery and in anaesthesia for a couple of years before coming to Canada and starting school here...hopefully I will manage somehow to get hired...but first thing first is the crne...I pray day and night...cheers

The earliest would be around November 6, but more likely between the 9th and the 18th, depending on where you live. The smaller provinces (NS, NB, NL, PEI) start announcing their results here first, followed by MB, SK, AB, BC and then ON. QC has its own exam so they aren't included.

Hey, I am just wondering how you know that the earliest would be November 6 and where you found out that information Thank you!:)

I am still trying to be positive but it's been so hard. I just want to get it over with & move on from there.

The estimated turn-around time is 4-6 weeks. October 5 + 4 weeks is November 2. Historically they've rarely been out in only 4 weeks. I wasn't looking at a calendar - November 6 is a Sunday, so obviously there's no chance of them coming on the 6th. Last year's October exam was written on the 6th; results from PEI were mailed out on November 4. PEI had 66 people writing, with only the Northwest Territories/Nunavut having fewer (19). SK had 187, NL 195, MB 227, NB 258, NS 266, AB 769, BC 935 and ON 2593. The greater the number of results to process, the more time is needed to do it.

Thank you very much!:D I'll keep my fingers crossed & continue my prayers.
