Just read the story about the gal that swallowed her engagement ring that her boyfriend slipped into her milkshake. She didn't believe him until she saw the x-ray! Fortunately, the crisis passed ;) What's the funniest/strangest thing you've ever seen on an x-ray?

When I worked in radiology I saw a lot of weird things on x-rays but the one that stands out the most was an 8oz. vegetable juice bottle way up inside a man's rectum. Oh, and of course the standard excuse to the Dr. is always, "I fell on it."

Also, I saw a man with a vibrator stuck in the same place & one of the radiologists (before the guy was getting x-rayed) asked me & another tech if the battery in the vibrator was still on, 'cause he wanted the guy to be able to lay still on the table and not be vibrating all around. :roll

Most radiologists & rad techs I've worked with have a totally bizarre sense of humor!!

a cervical thermometer, a patient trying to get pregnant was checking her mucous when she accidently pushed it through the cervical os. Whoops!:smackingf

Ahh, here come the foreign-object-in-rectum stories

I know it is just a TV show, but I have never laughed so hard as that episode of Scrubs when the guy had the light bulb up his rear and when looking at the x-ray, Dr. Cox says "either that or his colon has a great idea" :rotfl::idea:

A doorknob in someone's stomach. Drunk pt was dared to do it. Came in three days after swallowing the doorknob with abd pain. A little surgery and he was good to go.

Funnily enough, he asked for the doorknob back!

That's funny. I remembered the Scrubbs quote also as the best one!!! I still crack up everytime I see it.

started working in radiology a few months ago!! its amazing what people get stuck in their rear ends.... and the excuses that go along with them!! we had this guy 2 weeks ago who had his glasses up his bottom( he said he put them there so that he could get a few days out of jail).

Had a pt come into the ED with abd pain. He was a mentally challenged young man. Well, the doc ordered the Abd 2 view, we're looking at it and seeing all these little square shaped things showing up. Confused, we asked the patient what he had swallowed. His reply...'I want to be smart and computers are smart so I took some computer stuff to make me smarter.' Yup, he had swallowed computer chips. Tugged on the heartstrings of even our crusty ole charge nurse.:sniff:

the head of the nursing supervisor's brand new littman stethescope! patient came in high on something, wigged out in the er and nursing supervisor was called . . . nursing supervisor famous for utter lack of sense of humor by the way. she leaned over the comative patient as he was being held down by four security guards and gently asked "mr. smith, can you tell me what the problem is?" mr. smith responded by biting the head off her stethescope. nursing supervisor kept shrieking about how it was a "brand new scope and now it's ruined!" after the surgery, the surgeons cleaned and buffed the head of the stethescope and returned it to her in a nice presentation box. she didn't think that was funny, either.

i've also seen some interesting things on vet x-ray. i had a golden retriever who, over the years, ate a watch, contact lenses, glasses, a coke can, railroad spike, tin soldiers, paring knife and my mother's antique doll. the vet used to do an x-ray every time i brought the dog in for shots, whatever, "just to see what's in there now." the paring knife was still there when the dog died at the ripe old age of 13, about 7 years after she ate it! (must have been a very dull knife!)
