RN Job Fair - should I go?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I'v been an LPN for 3 years in LTC and skilled nursing. I just graduated with my BSN and am scheduled to take the NCLEX at the end of January.

A local hospital has this posted on their web site:

RN- Critical Care Open House

January 24, 2014

10am - Noon

Preferred applicant has a minimum of 1 yr. of recent experience

Please bring a resume as on the spot interviews will be held

Fulltime & PRN positions available in:

*ICU (Neuro, Cardiac, Medical & Surgical)

*Step-Down (intermediate care)

I'm not sure if I should even go to it. I feel like I will be wasting their time, but I am currently looking for a job. I clearly don't have any RN experience and I will not have my license at the time of the job fair. I basically just want any hospital job I can get. I am burnt-out at my current job of 3 year's as an LPN and dread going to work there.

What do you think? Would you go to this job fair? Do you think I should go?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. Go.

Walk up, introduce yourself & state you have 3 years experience as an LPN, have just completed your BSN, and are looking for new opportunities.

Good Luck.

And don't go in thinking that you are wasting their time, either, because you will. Go in with the attitude that this is their best chance to hire the best nurse they will ever have.

Any interview's success depends on the interviewee. Make sure that you are confident in yourself and you will greatly increase your chances of success.
