At home insurance jobs

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I am hoping to find an at-home, well compensated job with insurance company. I'm not finding too much in the way of a Job Search. Does anyone have any suggestions for specific job titles/descriptions to look for? Any experience in this line of work? Thanks!!

Are you a new grad or experienced nurse?

(This is the first year after licensing forum which implies new grad)

Some of the work from home insurance jobs are compact state based and nearly all require require years of related experience (acute care, outpatient, OR, critical care , etc). Are you looking to do claims review/authorization, nurse line/telephonic , case management , disease management ? (Ie counsel pregnant/new moms, new diabetics, workers comp) o

There is an "eternal truth" in employment compensation. An employer will NEVER pay more than it takes to attract and maintain a qualified employee. So - the jobs that have 'attractive' schedules, days off, locations, etc - will not pay much because they don't have to. Higher salaries are always positively correlated with the difficulty of filling the position. Those difficulties may be related to job structure, location or availability of the skill set required for the job... If you want to be well-compensated, you will either have to deal with difficult job conditions or develop some mad skills &/or hard to find qualifications.

I know a few 'work from home' nurses... case managers & insurance claim auditors. Their jobs are stressful. Salaries are based upon how much they produce for their company. Very high productivity demands. Calls with clients are monitored to ensure compliance with company guidelines. Their 'home' work is accomplished in a separate office... no opportunities for taking breaks or looking after kids at the same time.

I have been practicing 4 1/2yrs, with 2 years in ER, and last while home health. I am in TN, which is a compact state. Claims review/authorization is, I believe, what I would be most interested in.

I will be homeschooling one teen, so no small kids. I have separate room for office. And I would hope the "no face to face interaction with people/boring" factor might command a little more compensation. I cannot imagine this would be anyone's passion. It isn't mine. (That said- there is always something compelling about a job & I'm sure I'll find it.) It would be a job that better served my purposes to be at home- that is all

Try looking for workers compensation nurse case manager or nurse claims review. These jobs are not in abundance as one might think.

The thing is, lots of nurses want "boring" jobs, working from home, with "no face to face interaction with people." People post here fairly frequently, asking about how to get those kinds of jobs. You may well be able to find a position, but I wouldn't hold my breath for the "well-compensated" part. Best wishes!

Helpful info. Thank you everyone!!
