I hate being a nurse so I was thinking of becoming a nanny instead. Anybody ever go this route?? Seems like the pay is pretty good in my area for wealthy families...

Oh gosh. I nannied on nursing school. Don't. My experience was remarkably like The Nanny Diaries.

When I was an LPN I met a fellow nurse who was a nanny for five kids and she absolutely loved it. She said it paid more than she was making as an LPN. Granted though, we live in a very expensive area, and her employers were a doctor and lawyer. The stories she told me even had me considering it for a while! If you are interested in being a nanny, perhaps look into being a private duty nurse ? One of my good friends in nursing school had been with her client (medically fragile child) for five years. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

It is quite common for nannies to the well to do to have nursing licenses and nursing experience. Not a bad idea for a career move.

Remember, just because the people have money, it doesn't mean they pay their staff really well. Seek out some nannies and talk to them about their work.

I owned a nanny agency and the pay depends on the family and what they classify as a good pay. Some families were very wealthy and didn't pay much. Also the family may pay well but work your bones OFF!!!. May I suggest your work in Private duty nurse. Thant way you are still a nurse and paid accordingly and you are still current on your CEUs'. All the best
