6 interviews!!

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am new to the site and not so allnuses literate yet! I have 6 upcoming RN job interviews at the end of the month and I tend to freeze up during them because I don't think my answers to popular questions are that good!!! When an interviewer asks what is your greatest weaknes...what do you say??? I was thinking about saying my age because it might be harder for me to earn the respect of more seasoned and experienced nurses but with hard work and committment I hope that will change...is that stupid??? Also I did my final clinical in an ER so I have had extremely challenging situations as far as those questions go, not that ER poses any greater challenges than any other unit. I just want that "wow" factor in my answer that shows confidence but not arogance. With a hiring freeze at many many hospitals across the nation I do not want to mess up these interviews!!!! Any thoughts?:wink2:

Good gravey, 6 interviews! Congrats!:yeah:

Thank you KingKn...the website you gave me was great..very helpful!

Wow, 6 interviews. How old are you that you would say your age is your biggest weakness? Also, what state do you live in if you don't mind my asking?

Six interviews?! Where do you live? I want to move there!

I am 23 which is young for a Registered Nurse or a least in my experience at clinicals....the younger you are the more doubt is cast on you haha...just my opinion lack of age= lack of life experience=you don't know what you're talking about! Sorry guys I am from Boston but these interviews are all in North Carolina.....there is nothing in Boston, NY, RI, CT. Some things popped up in VA though.

I wouldn't say age then...That could make them think that you were immature. If the thought handn't crossed their mind that you may be too young to handle your job well, I wouldn't put it there. I would use something else, like saying you are sometimes "too much of a perfectionist" and love to get things exactly right. That one always works well =)

I agree with FutureNurseSuey. You should not talk about age. It is a protected class, but if you bring it up, there could be a negative thought pattern left in the mind of the interviewer. I think I read somewhere where one should take a positive and say that being or having too much of a good thing is ....... For example, supervisors want hard, productive workers. So you say that you are a hard, productive worker but you tend to do more than your fair share and that causes.......or you try to do everything and..... It really is hard for them to get a negative view of you because everyone wants a hard, productive worker. Good luck with those 6 interviews. Best wishes for getting the one best job for you from one of them.

Hey guys so I just had the interviews today, well 4 of them anyways. They went well and surprisingly not one single person out of the 9 that I met with asked what my greatest weakness was! Haha but thanks for the advice guys..I do not think I would have said age after I read your comments!
