Nurses Professionalism

How do you deal with co workers that do not pull their weight and are nasty with patients?

Gee, OP, did you ever go by "Zuzi" in a previous life???

Hey, there! I happen to miss Zuzi.

Funny, I thought her name implied that she is a solider...

I find this comment particularly out of line, not to mention disrespectful.

Unfortunately, this is a common argument amongst the small-minded. Typically, those with no real knowledge of the military assume that we're loose cannons, mouth-breathing grunts or at our very best, only capable of following orders.

I've noticed as well that at times, when someone has the nerve to be blunt or forthright on this site, they're almost immediately accused of being "un-nurse-like", lacking in compassion and unfit for caregiving. Especially coming from a non-nurse, that's a laughable conclusion, but it does get old after a while. It also perpetuates the angelic nurse stereotype versus the intelligent, evidence-based professional image that nursing struggles to promote even to this day. Just because I'm a caregiver doesn't mean I have to be butterflies and unicorns all the time. In fact, it doesn't mean I have to be butterflies and unicorns at all as long as my patients trust me and I'm a competent provider.

I figured I'd let the irony of SU2013's hostility in her posts speak for itself in the face of my own comments, which I was careful to construct with honesty but sans ad hominem argumentation. However, I do appreciate you and other PPs calling the OP out on her hypocrisy. It makes for a fun read.

What I don't understand, and I realize I may be in the minority, is if someone needs homework answers from AN, they are only hurting themselves. I don't find it necessary to be the homework police. I actually clicked on this because I was interested in response to this topic. And I am an RN, albeit a new grad RN not a student who ever looked for answers on AN

@ cream n sugar and soldier nurse you are Policing all my threads. So I shall repeat one last time slowly for you to understand. These are RANDOM post for Intelligent people to answer...not home work assignments being that I am not in school. God bless you both and have a great night. : )

Soldier nurse you are not policing my threads to even answer the RANDOM question I posted you go straight into attack mode as your name imply. In my opinion your behavior do not make a good nurse and I sure would not want you caring for me because you obviously lack empathy amongst other things. I will leave it at this and then you can continue to police. God bless you from the bottom of my heart. He loves you and so do I . Goodnight

WOW! I'd say the person who would not make a good nurse is the one doing the attacking here. If empathy is lacking, the OP surely does not possess it either. And as far as the religious stuff tacked on the end of a hostile post . . . it just makes it condescending.

If you'd like to make an intelligent post for folks to discuss intelligently, please do so. But this, like some of the other threads you've started, is not an intelligent post for intelligent discussion.

And to SoldierNurse22, thank you for your service.
