I try to post positive changes in my disability status and received such great news from my doctor today I thought I'd share with all in this site.

It took 3 weeks to get an appointment with my pain management doctor to receive trigger injections. I mentioned that to her and she explained how they are going through staffing changes blah,blah,blah,

I did get 3 trigger injections into the belly of three posterior muscles on and near the rhomboids, and that 2nd one hurt!!!! The muscle actually jumped severly.

10 weeks ago I joined our local gym to help build strength and endurance to enable me to finish the LPN to RN Bridge program. My muscles are stretching! The doctor made the coment that I looked"ridiousley(sp) well. I told her , that sounds almost like an insult. ...ridiculously well??? Hmmmmm.

She further added it's motivation, and hope that I cling to every day. I may never be able to nurse again depending on my respiratory response, but I am looking at healing the whole body, soul and mind. Beleive me 2 years ago, I would have been so angry crying and telling everyone to go to hell (sorry), that I surprised myself today. I am not one to take compliments well, I realize I may never work again, I know I envy those who are working nurses, and I pray that I will be given the chance again.

So my point is that I wish hope for all of us. "The disabled nurses". Hope to continue if we are working in a different capacity or just trying to make it through the day or even an hour.

I can't keep it in, it's out there and I HOPE that in some way everyone can benefit somehow for the better with hope in their heart.

You are an inspiration to others. Please don't think your nursing career has to end. There are so many alternatives to floor nursing that you can do. Someone with your years of experience and compassion, well, there's just gotta be a special place for you. Keep up the good work and may you be blessed in all you do.:kiss

Wanted to share my good news,I've been thinking about going to school for a new career since I don't have the energy to do floor nursing anymore.Hated the thought of giving up nursing but what could I do?Checked into school for court reporter-jobs start at 65-100 thousand a yr-but the time and money scared me.Then today I got a call out of the blue with a job offer.Looking for a peer educator for HIV/AIDS,the woman said she had been talking to someone at the place I want for my certification as a peer educator and they recommended me!!I have an interview on Monday!!!I'm so excited!

Here"s a bit of an update: Pneumonia, it sucks all the breath out of me literally. Questions my ability to complete a program in an area I love and have always done well in. So I keep that word HOPE very close to my heart. Thank you for all the continued support.

finished my first week at my new job.Went in on Monday for my interview,the interviewer was running a little behind and busy making sandwiches for the free lunch program they run every Monday,so I helped make sandwiches,set up the room where it would be served and then into her office.the guy who was going to do the HIV testing that day came in so she had to help him get set up by then the people were showing up for lunch so I helped serve,someone came in to talk about his being HIV positive,the interviewer asked me to take him to her office and get some contact info on him,came back and finished up lunch and cleared away the remains.Got a flu shot while I was there,finally got to the interview(since all through the day I was being introduced as "Terry,the new peer educator"I was pretty confident by now.Went out on Thursday and Friday to do presentations to pts in a medical center and a methadone clinic.It seems like every day will be different but that just adds to the fun.Anyway I'll be working three days a week,about five hours a day.I'll get to use my nursing training along with my training as a peer educator!!

{{{{{{{{Sharona}}}}} Just stopping by, no I didn't reply to this thread after all! Anyway - I am thinking of looking into (home) hospice nursing. But then I had a bad day at my job (which is one down from asst mgr at the store where I have worked for a little over a year (I got the promotion in August).

For those who don't know, I got this job after not being able to work as a nurse or even at all for 3 yrs due to depression/bipolar. I had intermittently been unable to work before, but never for that length of time, and I did end up applying for and getting disability!

Anyway - during the bad day - I was thinking, "that's what you get for thinking you are well enough to do nursing again, you can't even handle THIS!" "This" was a near anxiety attack after finding out that the manager had the safe keys on his person, in his car across town, while the two cashiers ran out of change. Long lines came to a screeeeeeeching halt! I became a blithering idiot lol ...

So anyway - Sharona you and others encourage me by my seeing your courage and strength - and also the Lord upholds me and tells me I am all right even if I DON'T work - but that through Him all things are possible (Philippians 4:13)

HCT; Did you get the job of not? Hope so?

Zoe: I was talking to my BF yesterday about the same things, believe it or not. Became sick in 2000, kept trying to work(sick) till 2005, and haven't since then. Tomorrow is sign up for Spring semester (it will actually be in winter.......anyway)

I told her, I'm not sure I can do it. Still 2 more weeks on antibiotic and SOB even with short walks. Saturday dh took me to the mall to get my wedding ring fixed and a birthday lunch and I was done. Listened to John Mayer all the way home and really listened to Gravity song lyrics.

So will do alot of praying and hoping that today will present a clearer picture of what's ahead. I'll just keep following that light. Thanks for the hugs!
