Are you constantly checking out your neighbor's veins? How about when you are out shopping or on a vacation? Or, when viewing your favorite TV show? It's happened to quite a few people. Has anyone ever caught you in the act??

Another nurse and I were side by side on lifecycles at the gym when a lean and muscular young man walked by. She whispered to me, "Look at those veins!".

He stopped and treated us to a posing display for several minutes. Because he assumed we were admiring his muscles we then did so.

Turns out he enters amateur body building contests.

Specializes in ortho, hospice volunteer, psych,.

A contractor we use frequently, (who thinks he's God's gift to women) has garden hose veins and every time I see them, I think, "Boy! Those are great veins!" He caught me once and thought I was thinking something and admiring him for entirely different reasons!:bag: Nope, just his veins. :nurse:

He still gives me strange looks sometimes!:wacky: I'm old enough to be his mother!! :roflmao:

I have been an RN for years and have started many Iv's. When I am talking to soomeone that is not what I look for. I am much more interested in the person in general if a female maybe her figure, etc. I do Iv therapy as required and I either get the vein or I dont.

Specializes in CVICU.

I think you missed the point of the thread. This was meant to be humorous.

I realized I had an issue with veins when I watched an Angelina Jolie nude scene and noticed her great veins. Questioned my career choice and my sexuality for a few minutes.

This cartoon brings back memories of when I was a brand new nurse many moons ago, & use to volunteer to start an IV or get labs...Oh! well those were the days...Aloha~
