Hi to all! I passed the nclex last 2008. I just got my SSN last month as an employer based immigrant. Just a week ago, I submitted my Completed Application for Licensure by Examination including a U.S. social security number as instructed by the CA BON. My school also forwarded the needed documents.

My questions are:

Has someone gone through the same thing as I am?

What happened?

Did they release your license or not?

If yes: How long did you wait for your license?

If not: What did they say? Can you send me a copy? Did they make you do further studies?

--As i have said, I am on employment based petition, so with this, my employer is waiting for my license. With this, my life is on hold. I hope to be enlightened with this. Thank you so much.

Well, u just have to write the numbers. Im not sure about changing names. But i did write the numbers and sent them a copy of my ss card too. It worked as i got my license.

just an update. i did checked nursys.com to see if my name was regitered already in CA BRN and thank God my name is finally there! its been a month since my school and i submitted the required documents including the NCLEX pass letter (which was expired already) and a photocopy of my SS card. Now im just waiting for them to mail me my RN license. Thank God everythings ok now. Hope those who are in the same issue as I was before would be able to see this post so they'd know their NCLEX exam is still valid! cheers o us and thanks to ms. azir too! God bless us all!

Congratulations!! Welcome to the real world! :-)

hi azirr05. we are on the same boat. I was also told by NJ BON to fill-up a new completed application for licensure so as to update because I already have a new address. i just received the form now. I don't know if I still have to ask my nursing school to submit my transcript of records to NJ BON. did the CA BON asked you to do another affidavit and fingerprinting since the application has them with it?

i hope this post can help me as I'm new here.

thanks

Yes i did everything. Filling application forms, fees, fingerprinting/live scan.

Hello everybody.

Thank you very much for this helpful thread.

I am in the same boat with you, azirr05.

I passed the CA NCLEX-RN exam last 2009. I took the exam in Pasadena, CA. Since I did not have my SSN back then, my license was not issued. Now I already have my SSN so I will be going through the process of applying by examination as per CA BRN policy. I have read in this thread that for us who passed the NCLEX exam, we are not affected by the concurrency issue. I studied in the Philippines, by the way.

My questions are:

(1) Does this still hold true, that we are not affected by the concurrency issue since we already passed the NCLEX-

RN exam?

(2) In the application by examination form, I just typed in my SSN. Will this suffice or do I need to send them a photocopy of my SS card? I already mailed my application yesterday without the photocopy of my SS card but I attached my Pass Letter from CA BRN dated in 2009.

I am hoping anybody could kindly enlighten me on these.

Thanks and God bless you.

Hi, i think you need to send a photocopy of your SSN, where are you planning to work? Are you in CA now?

Thank you.

Yes, I am here in California and I also plan to work here as an RN.

I already mailed my application yesterday. I just typed in my SSN at the application. It only says in the CA BRN application checklist that they only need the SS number and not the SS Card. Since I have read on this thread that some applicants also attached a photocopy of their SS card along with their application, I just wondered if it is really a must to attach a photocopy of the SS card.

Thanks again.

Thank you.

Well, there is no need to attach a copy. The numbers will suffice. :-) good luck!

Thank you.

Hopefully this will go smoothly.

To rhony_286, I cannot reply to your private message since they require at least 15 quality topics before I am allowed to use the pm tool.

Anyway, thank you very much for your response. It gives me more hope that things will move smoothly. As for the job market here in Cali for nurses, it actually is a mixed bag. Other areas need nurses like smaller cities but as for major cities like San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego, expect more competition as more take up nursing. I think the trend in my opinion is, the farther you are from these big cities, the more chances that you will get hired.

I thought california nullifies your nclex result after 3 years. good for you my friend.

At the moment, they are being understanding with foreign nurses' situation because of retro. During my time 2008, they allowed me to apply to take the exam without SSN. Now, they don't. :-)
