Hi! I am applying for New York State and I am also processing it by myself coz' agency fees are too expensive. I started with the Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) of CGFNS and recently they sent me a report that they already received that from prc and just waiting for my school to return the form to cgfns so they can send a report to NY BON. However, I have not passed any application to BON yet since CGFNS processing time for CVS is 6-8mos. Now, can someone help me out or probably enlighten me on applying for new york? I'm not quite sure if i'm doing everything right. Big thanks for those who will respond.

By the way before I can submit to New York BON, I will be taking up an online course about child abuse then I'll received a certificate after completing the course then that I will submit together with the form to NY BON. Am I doing it correctly? I'm planning on submitting this month since cgfns doesn't have any report yet.

Hi nehgarcia. I am from NJ, i plan to take nclex in NY instead of NJ because NJ required SSN. Can you help me in what should I do first based on your experience? Your reply will be a big help.

Kababayan, have you read any of the poster's "step-by-step" guide and comments, it doesn't get any more clearer than this.

There's even the online application process. I would simply print out the instructions and cross them out as you proceed.

Just know that (and re-stating again):

-- while IL and any other state not requiring a SS# to take the NCLEX, none of the state's BONs will release the license until you provide them with a valid SS# that allows one to work in the States. It's possible to get a SS# but it will NOT allow work authorization, just for driving a car and ID purposes (to open a bank account, rent a place, a very limited usage). It will state on that SS# card, "Not for work purposes". Employers in the states also use E-verify computers or their services to make sure that you're legally approved to work in the States.

-- Hospital sponsorships? What's that? Very few and far in between, you'll have better luck winning the big lottery, the odds are much better. If it's a hospital job you want, there's little to no demand for PH nurses now, they are being filled by the local residents and new grads (that are lucky to even land those job).

I'm not trying to discourage you, just know that this is what lies ahead after passing the NCLEX. As many come then find they are stuck they may remain unemployed for quite a while (years) and maybe working in jobs that are not nursing related. You can read those in NY and FL still looking after a year or more, some with actual years of working hospital experiences too.

Given that my CES report has been accomplished and applications to both CTS and PV have been submitted at the same time, how long does it take to receive ATT recently?

Do you have a SSN? (Social Security Number) or a you a US citizen or legal immigrant.

If you are neither of the above, do not waste your time and money to sit to take the NCLEX. Even if the BON lets you take the NCLEX, as steppybay said, it will not issue you a license. Even if in the remote chance they do issue you a license without an SSN, no hospital will hire you. SSN is needed for employment. Hospitals will run a background check on you and if you don't have a social security number, your application to work will be tossed in the trash bin.

I'm a FilAm, dual citizen. Thanks for the advice, I'm sure someone else would stumble upon it and find it helpful.

I am done (since OCTOBER 2012) with my CES (it states: report issued), I have emailed IDFPR likewise (the FPR.PRFGROUP09@illinois.gov suggested by an online user, have asked my friends in IL to call them BUT STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY FINGERPRINTS

Since, I am so confused with my case, I registered on Continental Testing Service (just minutes ago) for NCLEX RN BUT the option to pay thru credit card is disabled (is it really supposed to be like that?) so I did not have the choice but chose to have it printed and WILL mail it to them with a bank draft $91.

My CES will expire this Dec.28,2013, will I have to renew it again?

Im a Filipino Nurse still here in the Philippines. Am I doing the right thing?

    pls. Help!

Are you a US citizen or legal immigrant? If not don't waste your time with applying to take the NCLEX. Even dual citizens would did nursing school in the Phil will find it very difficult to find a hospital job. In my hospital we have a new grad program. 9 positions opened, over 700 applicants. My friend in HR told me they don't entertain foreign graduates regardless of citizenship. Employers hold the card now.
