nclex exam after 5 yas

Hi..im new here..and just want to seek advice from u guys..i graduated nursing 2009 and past my local board exam same year..and year 2010 i worked in rural health unit in our town until now..but not as as a nurse but a sanitary inspector..now im planning to take nclex exam..is it possible for me guys to take the exam since im stucked in doing paper works and entertaining complaints in our town when i comes to sanitation..hoping for your advices...tia

Have you applied to the college of Registered Nurses? If you have no nursing hours in the last 5 years then there will other stipulations to meet like refresher course or return to work

You mean the local board exam? Yes i already passed year2009 but i dont have hospital work experience since i already worked in rural health unit..

You have to apply to a provincial college.

Rural health unit's employ nurses to work as nurses. If you were working as a "sanitary inspector" you weren't working as a nurse but as what we would call a public health inspector which aren't nurses.

"Local Board Exam" does that mean you are an IEN? If so, there is more ahead of you than just applying to a provincial college and passing the NCLEX

Have you looked into a work visa yet? You need to apply to the NNAS to be assessed.

I havent applied for a working visa yet..due to lack of hospital experience..do u think my dream to pursue my nursing profession can still be possible inspite of being stucked for 5 years?

I think you really need to look at the college of RN website for the province you plan on living and working in and see what the requirements are. Not working for 5 years may have an issue on your application.
