Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

HI YA_Luver_nurse,

I am for the same intake dear, I received my offer letter day before yesterday and going to do the payment on monday.

Hi guys,

I'm sure that my question has been answered elsewhere but its hard to locate it in this rather lengthy thread. My questions basically pertain to my registration with AHPRA as an international RN applicant. I received an email today from my case manager stating

"An in-principle letter was mailed to you yesterday, this means that you are eligible for registration once you are in Australia and meet the proof of identity requirements."

This is very confusing to me as since my application is complete and approved (so it seems) by AHPRA, shouldn't I be considered REGISTERED already?

Will the letter that has been mailed to me contain some sort of registration number or something of the sort that I can use when applying for graduate school or work visa?

Please share with me your advice and expereinces regarding this matter. Will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks all!

i believe similar cases where posted from the previous threads

from my understanding, you do not need to undergo a bridging course.. you just have to satisfy the proof of identity requirements, then wait for your registration.

you can phone ahpra just to be sure

congrats! :)

Thank you so much for your reply. About the bridging program, you are right that I do not need it as I am also registered as a RN in NY, USA.

I just am wondering if I have to be physically present in OZ to prove my identity or if that can be done in the local OZ embassy.

Also if I want to apply for jobs and visa, I will need the registration number. How will I get them if I can't get to OZ without the number in the first place???

Hi everyone! anybody here for june2013 intake of IHNA in Melbourne? ;)

Good day aubreyR,

I was there too. Talked to Mr.**** But according to this forum, it would be better for us to lodge application with ahpra. I had lodged mine since August and got it today. I have also applied with IDP for UNISA and IDP says Ill hear from them by January 2nd week for the application with UNISA. Better to lodge anything that you can.

Good day glitzdelight,

Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is a good advice for us who are about to start.

I would just like to ask where did you take your BP, and what state is the aged care you have applied to.

Are there really alot of jobs offered on remote places?

My cousin who finished her bp already and got her registration has problems looking for a sponsor.

But could you enlighten me for people who will take the BP under a student visa? Would there be less chances to find a job asap?like 1 month? And what if you're in SA state? would it be easier since its not in a much more populated area?

I am having serious anxiety since my cousin isn't much successful in looking for a sponsor. She took her bp at ETEA and got her registration after 2 months due to school accreditation problems as I gathered...Now I am about to start this road. Just got my AHPRA eligibility if that what I can call it. and have applied with UNISA...

Please let me know of your 2 cents!

Thanks!

Good day fellow nurses,

I just received a letter from AHPRA and I would like to clarify what the heck it is.

It is the Notice of proposal to refuse registration pursuant to section 81 of the health practitioner Regulation national law (victoria)

It goes on to say "there are now 3 different courses of action available to you:

1. complete a board approved bridging program that leads to registration.."

Anyhow, is this the usual letter you get and could call it as Letter of Eligibility?

If yes, the letter stated that I had to reply my decision by january 7, 2013.

Does this mean, can i just reply Now or on January 5, 2013?

Coz I'm thinking, once I reply, will my time frame of 1 year validity to complete a BP start once they receive my intent to do a BP?

Thank you guys for your 2 cents!!! Hope you guys could help me.

Also, to Beaux and Eyem8791 and Briansnow,

I have lodged an application to UNISA with IDP, their help is for free anyway, so I grabbed it. But may I ask if you guys have any idea about the opportunities after studying there? I mean, as compared to more cheaper BP's. Like Latrobe is the cheapest one I only know..... I have applied for April 2013 for UNISA also. I hope and pray that there's still slots. But since I got my "LOE?" I want to weight the pros and cons for UNISA vs Latrobe..hope you guys could help, money is tight but if it breeds a better outcome, why not..

Please email me if you can at [email protected]

Thank so much!

To sbeattrixYes that is your LOE, it is written somewhere in the letter that "this letter will be required by the education provider as evidence that you have been assessed.." the validity of the LOE is one year from date of issue, meaning you have to complete the program within a year you received your loe, and that you also have a month (from date of issue)to notify Ahpra or your case officer of your intent to undergo the BP program. Hope this helps.

hi guys.. i'm new here. I got an offer of admission in unisa for 2013 intake. Who are for april 2013 intake here by the way?. i have lots of questions regarding the intake

- does unisa requires a 456 visa or student visa?, and how long is the duration of the student visa?

- i'm confused with the letter because there is an annual payment which is 20k plus and and the ones with the first tuition payment.., so are we obliged to pay the annual year tuition or just for the arntp worth 14k and the health cover?

- How long are we going to wait for the certificate of enrolment to arrive after sending payment and additional requirements?

-i have an ahpra letter valid for 1 year, i believe the school doesn't require the letter, right?

-i am confused with the student registration, can anyone pls simply explain it to me?

- so after we have finished the study, are we automatically registered as a nurse in aussie?

many thanks in advance. please help me. heaps of information from you guys is very substantial to my confused mind.. i hope to find batchmates here in forum... thanks!
