How long does it take for BRN to respond on Reapplication for NCLEX RN?

Hi, I'm in the process of sending my reapplication form to retake NCLEX RN. I took the first test on August 2012 and too bad,I failed. I was interested in taking the test again but at that time I was still in the Philippines and doesn't have a SSN yet. I just got here last month and recently got my SSN. So, my question is - how long does it take for BRN CA to respond to my reapplication. I've read about the concurrency issues and am fully aware I may not be found eligible. But ey, who knows right? So I'm hoping for your feedbacks :up:

Hi cherrybee, yeah i got a letter from ca bon requesting a copy of my clinical cases and academic calendar (both from my school). Did you apply for nclex rn too?

I know I will be denied because of the concurrency issue so I recently just applied for the lvn... whats your next step will u complete the needed documents? I want to be a usrn too but I can't think of any way right now.. aside from goin back to school to take the deficiencies or just take the lvn and do the lvn to rn program.

Did you check your cases if they're not concurrent with your lectures? Yeah, it's the best way for now - going through LVN route. Maybe after that we can work on going LVN to RN.

Yes that is also an option... to take the lvn to rn program after passing the lvn exam. :)

You guys should all be looking into the various LVN-RN programs, as not only are they very competitive (let alone from the CA local residents and student population) but many now require at least 1 year of nursing experience to be considered as a possible candidate.

Most will require pre-testing exams (some have English and math, some use both) and have minimum scores to pass, so start getting yourselves more and more familiar of this process and of which schools in your desired area due to saving money on room and board, food, transportation.

So many think once you have the LVN license, you can enroll in any LVN program. Just know some have 1-2-3 years of a waiting list and some if not most, requires that you pass the pre-examinations before you're added to that list.

Well that's fine. I am not in a hurry to be a usrn... I can work first as an lvn. At least I have taken a leap of faith and started something than doin nothing at all to reach my goals. We just need to have determination. This world will pull us down no matter what course we take. the only thing I can do for now is to study hard, pass the LVN, be the best nurse I can be, and leave everything else into God's hand. If it is his will... he will always open a door. One step at a time...

Yes I submitted my application 3 weeks ago. I live in LA area. How about u where are u now in your nclex pn application?

There's an old saying: "Knowledge is power". Given the declination of several thousand PH applicants all going for the LVN-RN route, those that are more informed will be steps ahead of those left at the starting gate.

In today's and foreseeable future job market, with the very stiff competition for the limited nursing positions, one needs every edge they can get, that's the harsh reality.

You also have to take the TEAS V test. Most schools will only consider your first test score. A lot don't do well because they underestimate the test.
