I'm a registered nurse from the Philippines and I'm currently waiting for my letter of eligibility from NY BON. I'm helping my sister in her Texas application. Credentialing via ERES. I understand that Texas BON do not require a Social Sec Num upon application. You can apply via paper application. However, it clearly stated that you need to write your SSN in the fingerprint card. How do you go about this? Thank you :)

You call/email Texas Board of Nursing and the will give you a Psuedo (Fake Social Security Number) to put on the form.

Wow the state of Texas is telling people to falsify a government document, do they tolerate nurses making up false data if they do not know it?

It's not even a "fake" SS#, it's merely an assigned set of numbers that is given out as a way to monitor the application process for the state of TX.

If one ever tried to "use" that same "fake" SS# will find themselves not able to pass thru any SSN E-verify computer system or pass any US employer verification process that requires strict employment procedure (hospital vs mom and pop operations or state or government jobs vs small retailer store).

Should they try to use the "fake" SSN to file their US tax returns, they will get a friendly letter from the IRS of no refunds allowed as their SSN is NOT valid.

This is different than those having a government issued ITIN, which allows one to file returns and get a refund but not allowed any sort of social security benefits.

Back to the OP's concerns, TX will allow to take the NCLEX-RN without a SSN, but TX will not allow the issuance of the nursing license until one provides the BON with a valid work authorized SSN, there lies in the "catch".

Even if TX did release the nursing license, how will she be able to apply for a US nursing job and assumes she wants to do this on her own, without going thru the marriage process of snagging a US citizen or finding the elusive sponsorship (winning the lottery probably has the better odds in today's job market).
