ETEA Bridging Program

World Registration

Published

Hi everyone.. I have a problem.. Hope you can help me with this.. I started applying for ETEA last month, got interviewed via phone last week and now, I already have my letter of offer from them. I was given 7 days to pay for the tuition.. By the way, I am for January 2013 intake..The problem is, my letter of eligibility from AHPRA is due to expire on the 26th of October.. Is it possible to ask for an extension from AHPRA? It is stated in the letter that I need to complete an NMBA approved program within the period given to me.. And now, my offer from ETEA is for January 2013.. :( What should I do? Please help.. Will greatly appreciate.. Thanks RNs! :nurse:

Try to ask from etea. Or better yet submit your visa application thru post at via ceterr, so that you can lodge your application even without the coe. :)

@annie_v2g, hi! I came across your thread and I find it really informative and motivating! But I have some questions...

hope you could enlighten me.. (I don't know if you are still active in this thread.. it's been a month from your last post)

1. How long is the validity of the eligibility letter from APHRA once you receive it? I've learned that the waiting time for APHRA to release the EL is usually more than 3months. Im planning to send my docs now to aphra but im concerned it might expire early.. (Also, is IELTS a requirement in APHRA? Or I can file my application now while waiting for my ielts result?)

2. I would like to verify my understanding about the multiple entry visa 456.. once I am granted with the said visa, after 3 months of BP I will return to my home land and then I can go back to Aus again as long as I want (can stay in Aus for a period of 3 months again) within 1 year? All I have to do is buy a ticket plane and that's it?

3. Are they strict with granting a multiple entry visa 456? I learned from another forum that some were denied with multiple entry after an interview.. Asking about the "purpose" of requesting for multiple entry visa.. What could be the best response to this? I might say something wrong that would give me a "no further stay" visa..

4. Can you enlighten me with the police check, working with children's check, nsg. calculation reference, opening a bank account once I arrive in Australia? What are these for? I don't know if I also have to accomplish these things.. Thanks..

I'm inspired by all of you who were able to acquire Aus. nsg. registration on your own.. Patiently reading, asking and helping each other.. Now, it's my time.. Hope to do it properly too! TIA :)

Hi ezela.

1.the letter of eligibility from ahpra is valid for a period of 1 year. The processing time takes 2 weeks (for the lucky ones) and almost 6 mos - 1 yr (to the unfortunate ones). It also depends on which ahpra state you submit your application. According to others, Victoria is fast compared to other states,. But i had mine in QLD, it took 2 months before i received the eligibilty. Ielts is a must (with no score less than 7 in each subtest). So my advise, wait for your ielts result. :)

2. 456 is no longer available, it was recently changed to subclass 600. You can be granted with a single entry or multiple entry depending on how you answer the questions on the visa application form (which i will tell you later). You just have to exit australia every 3 months. have your visa notice and roundtrip plane ticket ready.

3. There is one question in the form that goes like this.. "do you intend to go to australia more than once?" Your answer should be yes, then state the reason. You can write,i will go back to process my nursing registration with ahpra. Btw, there is no interview (face to face) unless the embassy asked you to do so. This answer will keep them aware that you really need to go back.therefore u will be granted with multiple entry 600 visa.

4. What school are you planning to go to? Requirement varies with each school, some requires police check while they are still in Phils. I did mine upon arrival in australia. I think the most important thing to do is open a bank account first and ask for a print out of your statement coz you will be needing the proof of address in almost every transaction. (Like applying for police check, working with children card, etc) you can think about these stuff later on.. Just focus on the lodgement of your ahpra application first.. :)

You can leave your questions anytime coz i always check this site. Goodluck and God bless you.. :)

oh my! thanks a lot @annie_v2g i don't know why i did not see your reply yesterday.. i even posted these questions in another thread.. (thinking that nobody saw my post hehe) and you also replied there.. so, thank you :)

Im planning to lodge my papers in APHRA QLD.. like what you did :) and will be glad if I can do my bridging program in Brisbane, QLD too.. I am currently searching for a college or school offering BP in brisbane but I can't find one on the latest list of accredited schools/uni offering the BP.. my Aunt in QLD told me that the nearest Uni from her house (where I could stay) is QUT.. but if im right this Uni does not offer the BP but a bachelor degree in nursing for 3 years.. aw..

really helpful insights especially regarding the visa! thanks for updating me that the 456 is no longer available.. and that I could apply for visa 600 which is almost the same as 456.. :)

I want to share you my timeline about job hunting. I have posted this in the other thread.

It’s been a while since I last posted here. I think I missed a lot of conversation and inquiries. I’ve been very busy looking out for a job after my bridging program . This is just an update of what happened to me after the BP.. here we go.

March 15 – My last day in ETEA.

March 17 – I submitted my proof of identification personally at AHPRA VIC.

April 2 – I received my registration as DIV1 RN

April 5 – flight to Philippines, because of my 456 visa.. I need to exit every after 3 months.

April 18 – Received a notice from AHPRA that they need to recall my registration due to administrative error.

April 25 – return to Australia to attend invitation for 2 job interviews

April 29 – My registration was returned to me.

April 30 – Panel interview (over the phone) from NSW Health.

May 1 – face to face interview in a hospital here in Victoria.

May 3 – got a job offer for a Theater position from my May 1 interview (and they’re very much willing to sponsor)

In our class, only 2 of us out 18 got their registration. My class mate who got her registration as well is working in the aged care now. (but she was a PCA in that aged care before and she has no VISA issues because she’s married to an Australian for a long time.) so she did not have a hard time looking for employment. Another thing, agencies are no longer offering sponsorships. (they do offer 457, but for those who have 3 yrs experience in Au, NZ, USA, Ireland and UK) So its better to apply directly to hospitals. Aside from that, job experience is a very important factor. In order for you to become an eligible candidate for employment, a minimum of 3 years experience in a specialty field is attractive. (especially in theater, mental health, emergency, ICU).

Remember guys, pray hard. Nothing is impossible even if employment is getting tighter now in Australia. Keep the faith . I wish you all the success in your future endeavors. For questions, view my profile cause there’s a link to my fb page, just leave a message there and I’ll try my best to answer your inquiries. God bless us all! GOD IS GOOD!
