Does Texas require NLE / local license?

Hi! I'm Jing, once and for all does the state of Texas require NLE or local license in the country where you were educated? And what others states do not require NLE or any experience?

*BSN graduate March 2013, no experience, lives in California

*Passed IELTS.

*CGFNS CES report will be out soon.

I'm not sure if this topic has been posted before so please bear with me as I cannot find any answers.

Did you check the TX BoN website for requirements for licensing by examination as an internationally educated nurse? The source will have the most recent and accurate information.

Hi thank you for your quick response. I actually ended up calling the TX BoN. They said that the state does not need that any local license but will need IELTS and CES report.

My question now is how will I be informed if TX BoN received my report from CGFNS and do I need to apply for NCLEX now? What should be the proper steps? I understand that there is also a Jurisprudence examination but I do not know how to go about. Thank you!

You don't register for NCLEX until you apply to the BoN for licensing by examination. You don't apply to the BoN until CGFNS indicates your report was sent to TXBoN. You follow the instructions regarding the jurisprudence exam on the TXBoN. The prep for the jurisprudence exam is online. You need to pass jurisprudence once TXBoN accepts your application in order to get an ATT for the NCLEX. No point in registering for NCLEX until you pass the jurisprudence exam

So can I take the Jurisprudence exam now or should I wait till CGFNS release my report to TX BoN? Sorry I know I'm rushing... I'm all new to this and there's really nobody I can come to since I live here in California and does not even know a single person in Texas. Another question I have is how long does CGFNS take to release the report after all documents have been submitted and ready for review? Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

You need to apply to TXBoN first before you can take the jurisprudence exam. The instructions in the link above are rather detailed and clear.

I would suggest securing employment in TX before moving. Not all areas have work for inexperienced nurses

CES report usually takes approx 4 months from start to issuing report to BON. You will need to submit application to BON and wait for their OK to sit NCLEX. I would also think you will have to wait before sitting jurisprudence exam but someone who has applied to Texas may be able to give more accurate info

Thank you again, you've been very helpful. The steps in which to take are now clear to me. I understand that I have to secure an employment first before moving and I'm hoping I will if ever a license will be granted to me. My whole life I've been in California except college and moving away from family because of the concurrency issues is pretty sad, but I have to start somewhere right?...

That's quite a wait... My order status just switched to "ready for review" so I'm guessing I have to give it a few months more? What if I just go ahead and pay for the Expidited Service fee of $250? Do I have an option with that? Thank you!

If the process is showing ready for review then looking at approx 1-2 months and then report sent to BON. Have you applied yet to the BON if not now is the time to get it completed

I have not applied yet because I was also informed here to wait on the report to be released to the BON? What is the propet way? Thanks
