What do NP's wear

I prefer scrubs. They're more comfy but I have so much office clothes that I still use them in the hospital. That plus a white lab coat with the hospital logo. Nothing fancy. Even when I wear office clothes, I don't go crazy with fashion trends hehe I still prefer neutral colors.

And I don't bring a briefcase. Everything I need is in my lab coat and all my resources are in Iphone.

I'm a psychiatry NP.

I loathe scrubs and want to distance myself from them as much as I can. I wear business attire, business casual, dark jeans once in a while, etc.

I do not carry a briefcase. Rather, I have a Vanquest Trident 20 with my personal tablet (for engaging in personal affairs) and other EDC items. I looked at Saddleback leather goods for a long time, but Vanquest fits my daily needs rather than having to unpack/repack.

I work in an office and do not have exam rooms, etc. I try to keep it business-like rather than clinical.

I wear business suits and add a white lab coat when I'm on the inpatient units. I loved scrubs as a RN but feel as a NP its important to look professional if I want to be treated and paid like one so I dress like the physicians in my specialty dress.

I wear regular "office" wear. When I meet a new patient, or in the hospital setting, I'll wear my lab coat. As to a briefcase...everything is electronic, so I will carry my tablet and phone, but leave the computers at work. I do have access to the program via my tablet or home computer if I need to address anything away from the office.

I wear business casual clothing with a lab coat embroidered with my practice logo and my name. I don't wear anything outrageous or unprofessional, but I do like color and clothes that are just a touch funky. It's just a way of expressing myself. I don't carry a briefcase but use a leather totebag. I'm in different offices depending on the day of the week, so I need to carry my laptop and stethescope from place to place. I moonlight in an Urgent Care center on weekends, and will wear scrub bottoms with a shirt and lab coat there.

I'm a DNS at a SNF so we have lots of NPs. Some wear business casual with a lab jacket. Some wear club wear...I kid you not...tank tops, mini skirts and stilettos. Not at all professional.

lol - I have to laugh at "club wear"..

I wear black scrub bottoms and short sleeve tshirt in the summer and long sleeve t-shirt in the winter. I wear long blue pin-striped lab coat in the summer and fleece zip up jacket with my my practice logo and name on it in the winter.

And...because I work where theres lots of blood and bleach, I don't splurge on my clothes....I go thru a lot of t-shirts. However, I count on my buttoned up lab coat (with practice logo and name embroidered on it) and my fleece to protect me....

I'm still laughing at stilettos...

Right there with ya. I'm picturing the fresh faced 23yos who had no intention of ever laying hands on a patient and went to the super zoom version of HS senior to prescribing medications for someone's child without so much as ever assessing a real live patient who was heading south.

When I teach psych clinicals I make them wear scrubs, like the nurses do, because I can insist on a t-shirt underneath and it reduces the hoochie factor that so many of the youngins seem to unknowingly put out there.

In my NP program I was in scrubs and a ponytail everyday even though my program insisted on business attire. Starting my first job I went all out with the clothes and the shoes and actually woke up early to do my hair and makeup. That did not last long!! It is hard to look cute in the ICU when you are placing lines and pulling tubes. Plus, all gowned and gloved it gets very hot and I was slow back then and oh I was a hot mess (literally)!

nowadays, I wear scrubs 80% of the time and slacks or jeans on fridays the rest of the time.
