Hope this isn't considered trivial....

Littman stethoscopes still the king of stethoscope? I am about to need a new one and just would like to have some shared input/experiences...

I have only owned Littmans. I have an electronic one (model 3000) but my toddler grandson ripped it up so it needs to go back to Minn. Currently, I'm using a Littman Cardiolgy III - its an older one I just had cleaned up and new tubing put on it.

I use a Littman pediatric stethoscope. The advantages are good for kids, easy to maneuver around with patients who are shall we say "generously endowed". I have the only one in the hospital as far as I know so I can spot it easily. Hears at least as well as I can.

I had probably $300 worth of adult scopes walk off. I've had this one for six years. I can spot it a mile off. Cost was around $49 back then.

Same here- I have the Littman Cardiology III and really like it.

ultrascope, can hear through pt's clothing, got rid of my Littman

What is an ultrascope?

I use the Littman Master Cardiology III, does work through clothes although I do try to get under them, but really works well with the "more robust" pt who may have distant sounds. I keep two, one in the car for NH and home visits, one in my office.

I'm looking into an electronic, my MD has one and swears by it... though I think he has some hearing loss he's trying to compensate for.

i have a cardiology iii as well. i got a master cardiology and didn't like it as well... can't hear as much. plus, its harder to listen to carotids on a thin patient because its a large diaphragm and doesnt always seal against the skin to hear appropriately.

good luck. an ultrascope is one of those clear backed ones that often has flowers, confetti, or some other decoration inside the plastic part. lots of people swear by them.

My Littman 3000 worked wonderfully! I loved it. Have used it for 3 years w/o problems!

I have the cardiology III but a guy in my class has one of those electronic ones and I wish I would have purchased it instead. Especially as a beginner, listening to all the different sounds is hard and hard to distinguish between this and that sound. The electronic one is expensive but so is the cardiology III. My next one will be the electronic one, I loved it when I tried his.

Pay the extra $ to have your name put on it so if it walks off it might walk back to you.

:yeahthat:

I adore my Littmann 3000. People try it out and go, "Wow .... " I also have a Master Cardiology.
