What did you wear for NP clinicals? Scrubs or regular clothes? I am starting school next fall and just thought about this!

I didn't wear scrubs for any of my clinicals. Mine were all outpatient based and everyone just wore business casual. Just make sure you have comfy shoes!!!!

Business casual and the short med student lab coat with an official school name tag....

Can't say enough about comfy shoes - there was never enough chairs for everyone.

Our school has instructed me to wear 'dress' clothing (skirts, slacks, nothing open toed or without sleeves) and a 30-32" lab coat.

Anyone got any recommendation for comfy shoes? I wear Danskos on the floor, but I don't think they'd look too hot with a skirt. I know they make heels, but I don't have $120+ to spend on a pair of shoes right now.

Dansko's has some decent dress shoes (better with pants). I quickly made friends with slacks and about 3 non-iron type shirts. I get really hot--so they are short sleeve ---I bought the Medline longer length jacket (above knee)--its thin--comes out beautifully from the dryer and you can have it monogrammed for a total price of 26.00.

Danskos are great, but I also like the Born brand, which I can sometimes find in TJ Maxx and Marshalls. They also have them at DSW and Off Broadway shoes. Another good brand is Ariat, which can also be found at Off Broadway Shoes. I tried going the cute ballerina flat route at first (loved my leopard print ones!!), but my feet were killing me by the end of the day. It would be nice to find some attractive, semi-dressy shoes that also offer good support.

I wear Born shoes - have them in multiple colors and they last and last. I work in a bloody environment and they wash off very well too.

Darn it!!! Scrubs are so comfortable! Thanks for the input and for the ideas for shoes. As a floor nurse, I wear Keen hiking shoes and I LOVE them. That's not going to work with business attire!

I wore business casual. A lot of dresses an skirts. They are much more comfy than confining slacks. As soon as I got an NP job I gave away all my scrubs, I hate wearing them!

Good shoes are a must. For the portion you are following and observing, the NP or Dr gets to take a break and sit on the stool, but YOU are standing the whole day.I have a bad back and it was not fun.

That is the only thing I miss from my days as a RN is my scrubs! Hate having think about what I am to wear in the mornings...still not used to it after 6 years!!! :)

As far as shoes....I have bad feet (SOOO hard for me to find shows that don't hurt and I have flat, narrow feet) and a bad back and standing for long periods kills me (one of the reasons I went back to school). Aerosoles and Easy spirit make some nice, comfortable shoes in all styles (loafers, heels etc). They have some really cute shoes (not the old lady kind they used to make) and it is all I work in. You can get good deals at the outlets or MJM/DSW. I wore business casual, no open toe shoes with the short white lab coat and my school name pin.
