Is it possible to go from an RN with an Associates degree to an NP??? Or do you have to have a Bachelors???

Also I can not find a website that lists all the NP programs available. I know the AAPA website lists all of the PA programs in the U.S. But I would like to see one for NP's...........

The NP role requires a Master's degree, so you will need either a BSN, or at least a BS or BA in another field, plus the RN, to get into a program.

You cannot go directly from an ADN program to an NP program, unless you already have the bachelor's before starting that.

You may be able to find a program that has a bridge to the MSN. Thomas Jefferson offers a RN/BSN/MSN in a bridge format. I think that 3 of the undergraduate courses count towards the MSN so it shortens it up a little. Here is a link http://www.jefferson.edu/jchp/nursing/rnbsnmsn.cfm

To answer simply, YES it is possible. There are several programs. It used to be NP programs were only open to those with a Bachelors or Masters but things are a changing and for the better.

Mona b has provided some links worth investigating.

Best of luck to you what ever you decide.

yes, there is such a thing going from RN-MN. The things, there is a limit of schools that offer that option but it is something difinitely worth looking in too.

What are the prons and cons of going from RN-MN??

Suzanne4,

Do you know which schools offer this type of program, because I already have a B.A.

Thanks,

I am in such a program at TWU - Texas Woman's University. Here is the link for the RN (ADN) to MS program, which includes the NP programs.

There is also an ADN to MSN (nurse practitioner or nurse educator option) at TAMU-Corpus Christi, which you can complete online and part-time.

Yes, there are programs that go from an RN to MSN, they are just few and far between I believe. I am aware of a program in the midwest that has an RN to MSN program, its a private school in Omaha.

RN to MSN - Clarkson College
