UNC Chapel Hill deadline changed for May 2010

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I am waiting to hear back for Spring 2010 admission to UNC-Chapel Hill and got an email that there is a new earlier deadline for the May 2010 entry- December 22, 2009. So depressing to already get re-applying info when you haven't heard back yet. Why, oh why is this school not easier to get into?

The email said Spring 2010 applicants would hear toward mid-November. This sounds like an unbelievably short amount of time to accept their offer and line up financial aid. I have been accepted at Duke and have to line up loans for that if Carolina doesn't offer me admission. I hope one month is enough time.

That sounds about right. 487 is national participation. 489 is International. Offered only to BSN students, not ABSN's. Getting qualified I imagine means getting offered a spot in the BSN program. I figured I would look into it further once I get over that first hurdle. ;)

Still nothing in the mail today - ugh!!!

Don't think my mail came yet....but close..... NYCGyrl... are you going to the WTCC 2 day orientation...I plan on going...but would like to know beforehand.

I don't see how some received letters already...last Saturday...for ABSN and still not mine...makes me think!?? I emailed the SON and they said they didn't go out in any specific manner....hmmmmm!!!

As I posted in a thread I started elsewhere, I received notification from UNC today that I was accepted to their BSN program. The letter was dated November 6 and finally postmarked the 10th.

There are a few contingencies that must be met (all lower division coursework completed, prereqs completed, last of any transferrable work reviewed), but I was told by my friend that should not be an issue. Getting a response back to them, on time, is mandatory. I'll be sending that right away.

I hope for the best to all those that have applied. I would love to work with all of you. And for those confirmed, drop me a line and let's chat. I will more than likely create an email list for our class so that we not only put together a support and study group for all those interested, but a networking group for all of us graduating and seeking work in the profession. The relationships we build now will forever be influential. Having worked professionally after graduating many years ago, alumni contact can be quite beneficial to all involved.

Best of success to everyone. I'll keep everyone posted as I progress through the program. I'm so excited, it's just hard to sit still. I think I'll step away now and run around in the rain!!!

:yeah: :yeah:

Nothing today...:crying2:

Congrats C2CNurse!!!!!! I am so excited for you and all those who have been accepted thus far. Do they have any requirements such as a physical or background check? We are on the same page as far as having contacts and networking. This is crucial to success in a program like nursing. We'll definitely have to set something up.

Nic11, yes I am going the the Wake Tech Gateway to Success class. I will take my drug test in the morning (I hate to pay 63 dollars for it though!!).

Thank you, NYCGyrl! Definitely forming academic relationships helps nurture professional success. I'm open to all ideas. I do hope you get something in the mail by tomorrow. The program will be tough, but I heard the staff at the UNC School of Nursing is quite nurturing and supportive as well.

As for a background check, the letter that came in indicated a 'criminal' background check would take place from a Criminal History database. Clearly, no worries there. As for a physical check, there are several pages included regarding the Student Compliance Program Policy that includes health and immunization guidelines. It appears I'll need to fast-track a checkup and immunization program.

I'm enjoying the moment today, but must get crackin' on getting prepared for the next two years as well as performing well on the last few transferable courses I'm attending now. January 11th is really just around the corner.

I finally got my letter in the mail today and got accepted to the BSN program!! Good luck to all of you still waiting on your letters! My letter was postmarked on Tuesday and I live in Raleigh, so hopefully the rest of you will hear something tomorrow!!

Congrats McMoore! Are you going to UNC?!

Does anyone know if you are going to get more information on how to complete the background check, etc. I found this page that has the immunization form.

I think we should start a FB group, but I wanted to include both BSNs and ABSNs since we have classes together and I wasn't sure what to name the group since we would graduate at slightly different times. Ideas?

Congratulations! :):yeah::up:

momofthreeboys - yes I plan on going to UNC! I'm still so excited from receiving my letter!! I'm not sure about the background check. Maybe once we send in confirmation that we will be attending UNC, they will send more information about it in the mail? A FB group sounds like a great idea. I want to meet people before classes start! Maybe we could name the group something that has to do with our start date, since that will be the same for all of us?

Mail just came and I still have nothing. I live in Cary - what's the deal?

I guess if it doesn't come tomorrow, then I will call then on Monday to see what they can tell me over the phone.

I asked them about it earlier and they said they couldn't tell us over the phone and that we had to wait for the official letter.

I wonder if I will have to drive over there so they can verify everything in person and tell me one way or the other.

I'm going to go insane before I find out!!!

Congrats to everybody that has heard - hopefully I will get to meet everybody!
