UNC Chapel Hill deadline changed for May 2010

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I am waiting to hear back for Spring 2010 admission to UNC-Chapel Hill and got an email that there is a new earlier deadline for the May 2010 entry- December 22, 2009. So depressing to already get re-applying info when you haven't heard back yet. Why, oh why is this school not easier to get into?

The email said Spring 2010 applicants would hear toward mid-November. This sounds like an unbelievably short amount of time to accept their offer and line up financial aid. I have been accepted at Duke and have to line up loans for that if Carolina doesn't offer me admission. I hope one month is enough time.

This is my 15th post so I should be able to PM now.

C2CNurse, I am ready! I will drive to Carolina and hand deliver it the same day if I need to lol.

I hand delivered my transcripts so I will probably do the same with letter if I get accepted. Let's hope today is the day.

Nothing today. :angryfire

Nothing for me either today. :banghead:

Carolina11 & tazluff, start thinking about making a call on Monday. I know exactly how you feel, but do not lose hope. Persistence is always the key.

Although I should not compare universities, I do know of a person who was number ten or above on the Duke waitlist, and ended up getting an offer eventually. Nevertheless, a courtesy call may not be out of the question here. But, remember, most people do not need to respond until the 20th (though UNC would prefer replies immediately, especially from those turning down the offer). After which, they'll make their waitlisted offers, I imagine.

Lastly, I would not hesitate to reapply by the 22nd should you not get in. However, make certain to find out why your application did not make it to the top this time so that you have an opportunity to improve or enhance your application on the next go around. You may find that it was one class or one thing said in an essay (especially in an essay where the first paragraph is everything).

I wish you the best, no matter. Do not give up. And should you not get accepted this time around, but get accepted the next go around, feel free to hit me up on how we are doing. Learning from those already in the program is always quite helpful. I'm already learning a lot about the profession from those on the message boards here.

There is still time to get accepted! And C2C is right, it is important to go up there and discuss your application with them. I know someone from a previous app cycle (waitlisted) who went up there with a letter (discussing why he really wanted to be in the program) and talked with them about his application. He got an acceptance letter the next day. With so many applications there is also a possibility they just made a mistake (new application system as well) so definitely go state your case if you get waitlisted.

I didn't get a letter today but I don't feel as hopeless since someone received an acceptance as late as Friday. I may have joined the Facebook group too soon though. I think I got caught up in all the excitement! Anyway, the anticipation continues! :grn:

Got my letter today and I am on the waitlist. I'm fine with that, but the waiting continues!!

Forgot to mention that it was ABSN waitlist, not BSN.

Hopefully someone will choose not to attend and you will be called! All of this waiting for a letter and now more waiting...But congrats on not being rejected!!! Gotta look at the bright side :yeah:

NYCGyrl, consider that positive thinking, and never lose that quality. It's a great thing. And, joining the group is not so premature. I've joined alumni groups and former classes just so that I have an idea of what's going on with the current list of students. Information is a powerful commodity. It will help you, especially if you don't get in during this first round. And, if you don't, please do not hesitate to contact the nursing department as to why you were not chosen and how you can best improve your application on the next go around. December 22nd, I believe, is the deadline, and you wouldn't want to miss that. Hopefully, we'll be with you on this round though. Best of success to you!

Thanks! I really appreciate your words of encouragement. It's a great idea to get feedback from the department to help me out if I apply for the next class. This message board has really been a blessing in these past few weeks!
