I actually got a call this morning from Johnson Medical Center to interview for a job on the 3rd floor peds/med surg unit. I'm so surprised I even got a call because I don't graduate until December! This will be my first interview so I'm really nervous. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks so much for the information! I got my acceptance to UNC last week, and I decided to go there after much thought! Which program are you in, and how intense would you say it is? Are you enjoying the program?

Laurie - it doesn't take too long at all. I submitted all of my application materials, and then heard back about 2 or 3 weeks later - so not long at all. Good luck!!!

I haven't heard anything about shoes/stethoscopes/use of a PDA. The only thing I know that they require are watches with a sweeping second hand! I'm guessing we will have an orientation closer to our start date and hopefully they will give us more information then!

momofthreeboys - yes I plan on going to UNC! I'm still so excited from receiving my letter!! I'm not sure about the background check. Maybe once we send in confirmation that we will be attending UNC, they will send more information about it in the mail? A FB group sounds like a great idea. I want to meet people before classes start! Maybe we could name the group something that has to do with our start date, since that will be the same for all of us?

I finally got my letter in the mail today and got accepted to the BSN program!! Good luck to all of you still waiting on your letters! My letter was postmarked on Tuesday and I live in Raleigh, so hopefully the rest of you will hear something tomorrow!!

Hey starmickey03! I already had a bachelors degree when I applied to Watts and my overall GPA was about a 3.5, but I don't think GPA matters too much. I think the school is somewhat competitive, but it seems to me that the two most important parts of their application are the preadmissions testing and the essay. It's a great school! Good luck!

Thanks for all of this information guys! I applied for the BSN program and have been running to the mail every day for the past week! I'm glad to finally get a break from all of the anxiety since the mail doesn't run today! Hopefully we will hear something by Friday, since that only gives us a week to make up our minds. I think you have one class at a time, but each class lasts about 3 weeks or so. It does seem like a lot though in a relatively short amount of time. I have had all of the prerequisites, but I think I want to take them again to refresh my memory!

From what I hear, classes at Mount Olive college run from June-November and last from 6:00-10:00 two nights a week. If you have any of the prereqs, you are able to take different classes, and possibly online classes, but you are required to take at least 18 hours through Mount Olive college. I also think the instructors come from Mount Olive to teach the classes at the Watts campus. This is all hearsay though, so hopefully I'm not misleading you! See you in June! Congratulations

Danigrrl, I'm not exactly sure what they look for when deciding who to accept to Watts, but just because you don't think you're an ideal candidate doesn't mean you won't get in! I am 22 years old and have no health care experience. I actually have wanted to go to vet school my whole life, so every job/volunteer experience I have ever had has related to animals. I didn't think I was a very good candidate for nursing school, but I got accepted to Watts for June 2010. If I had to guess what was important to their admissions committe, I would say your preadmission test score is very important, but I also think the essay you write is important because it gives you the opportunity to stand out against the rest of the applicants. From what I've heard, I think they admit around 50 students for each semester, so I think you stand a great chance of getting in! Good luck!

I have been hawking the mailman every day waiting to get my letter from UNC in the mail, so I'm glad to know that they probably won't send anything out until next week, even though that's really frustrating! Good luck on getting into the ABSN program - I hear it's a wonderful program. Thanks again for your insight!
