RN salaries in North Carolina?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi all,

I'm considering relocating to the Durham, NC area and was wondering if anyone familiar with that area would be willing to share what a normal hourly rate is for the area. I have 7 years of experience, mostly in critical care.

Thanks so much!

As a relocating new grad (20+ years as a medic and graduated in Aug with MSN) I am getting many interview requests at the outlying hospitals as opposed to the larger hospitals. All of the outlying hospitals are affiliated with the larger ones as well. I have a full week of interviews scheduled for the first week of January (they were actually trying to schedule them for xmas week).

Interesting. I hope to hear more, I am planning on moving to NC or SC in 2016. Seems like the pay for NC RNs is very similar, if not identical, to the pay in East TN.

Hi I'm looking to relocate to the Carolinas in a year or two where's the best place to stay and work as a registered nurse

This is great info! I am considering moving to NC after graduation next year and I'm doing the research now to narrow the field. I am so thankful to allnurses.com for a place to come for details. I hope to move in September of 17! Wish me luck!

I know that Duke has raised their pay again starting Oct 1. My 2 cents has to with education benefits at Duke. I do not know about the UNC system, but I am getting pretty decent help with tuition as a Duke employee. I also will have great opportunities within the system for a job when I finish my MSN.

I just relocated to Charlotte and am struggling with the pay being offered here. 22.57 an hour with 5 years experience. How can this be. This is $17 less an hour than california. I think I could make more money as a bartender. They dont even pay more for a bachelor's vs an associates. Stating we don't pay more for education. I'm sorry....what?

Cost of living. I am from Chicago and the house I have here, the taxes would be higher by a power of 10. I find that we live comfortably on the pay I get here. (I am in the Raleigh-Durham area).

Anyone know what they pay scale is near Jacksonville or Goldsboro?

Hi mmc5124! This is good to know. I live and work in downtown Chicago as an L&D RN but more more am growing tired of the city life and considering the move back to my hometown of Chapel Thrill. The big thing that stops me is the low hourly rate compared to Chicago. {I've been gone for 10+ years and can't remember a time when things were cheap} Can anyone comment here as to any pay difference between ADN, BSN and MSN nurses in the Triangle area? What about other benefits like PTO accrual for specific hospitals like UNC,WakeMed, or Duke?

No difference in pay for type of degree. I know that while I have 5 years exp, if they hire someone with 5 years, they are goig to be offered more, I believe

Haven't figured that out yet
