Have you seen the new "Preemie Magazine" which began publishing last autumn? They have recently partnered with the March of Dimes too. They offer a free subscription to NICU professionals and will send a free drop shipment to your NICU or doctor's office for you to pass out to parents.

We are really excited about our drop shipment which we received a couple of weeks ago. Our parents love them too. It truly fills the void for parents since so many of the "infant" type magazines do not speak to preemie problems much, if at all.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to click on the link to www.preemiemagazine.com and go to the subscription page where you will see areas for you too fill out information for either a personal subscription or for a drop shipment if you wish as well as checking out their very nice web site.

I was just coming here to post the same thing! :lol2:

I got this in the mail today. Not only is it for parents, but NICU proffesionals. I just read how NIH is going to study if H2 blockers can cause NEC.

I have seen this magazine and so far I really like it. Someone on All Nurses posted about this magazine sometime last year so I have been receiving my copies since then. Our unit also just got a big shipment of them so they are available for the parents. It seems like a great magazine for them. I wonder how long it will stay free???

I'm not a NICU nurse, but I am a NICU mommy x 2 and I have to say I love this magazine! I was searching for some info on preemies last year after my daughter came home (after being delivered at 32 weeks) from the hospital and came across the website as mentioned by the OP. This is a great magazine for parents of preemies while they are still in the NICU and when they come home!

I got a subscription for our unit and every month we get a large box of 30-40 issues and pass them out to the parents. It's a really nice magazine.

Just ran across this magazine yesterday in the IMCU at the hospital where I volunteer. The IMCU is primarily a step-down unit for our NICU babies, so that is a great place to have the magazine. I just got a personal subscription so I won't miss any more issues!

Thanks to the OP for posting about this magazine. I've signed up for a 1 year subscription and I'm looking forward to reading this.

I'll ask the hospital's NICU if they are aware of this magazine. They probably are, but hey, if it's free and they haven't heard of it, I believe it's another great resource they can give parents of preemies.

Once again, Thank you!

Glad you found it too. I finished reading my first issue last night...Good stuff! I'm still in school, but NICU is an area I'm considering...

I've received several issues, and handed them on to moms of premies. I'm hoping to start getting the drop shipments for our dept.....Sometimes it's hard working night shift and rarely seeing your boss!
