I will be attending this fall as well and will be looking for housing. I was debating dorming on campus but from the website it looks like they will not be offering apartment housing starting this fall and everyone (grad and undergrad) will be dorming together which I'm not too happy about so I will be looking off campus.

Kalilea23, jabbs1026 and emartone - Did you all have interviews? Did you recently find out you got in? Just wondering if they sent out admissions letter long time ago or still sending them out now in May, even though the program will start soon in a few months.

I interviewed on May 7th and was first contacted by phone I believe on the 9th to say I was accepted. I received my letter a few days after that. I am taking the TEAS June 17th.

I have an interview on Monday at Wagner and was wondering if those who interviewed can tell me some of the other questions they asked besides why you want to become a nurse? I'd rather be as prepared as possible rather than getting nervous, rambling, and talking in circles.

I am not too happy about the dorm situation either- not sure why they got rid of the graduate apartments? I have been looking for housing online and it is all very expensive so it has been frustrating. I did see an ad for a 5 bedroom apartment in a house by the college which would be great if we could find enough people to live there.

leroy221- I had a phone interview the beginning of May and found out a few days later.

Did not attend Wager, but was born and raised on SI and can tell you unlike the other four boroughs rental apartments are in short supply. FEMA and the federal government found this out after Super Storm Sandy and they went looking for temporary housing. S

Simply put most persons on SI tend to live or want to in their own homes, hence not allot of apartment buildings and often what does exist are part of two or three family homes.

Post Sandy what little decent apartment housing that as available has been taken to house those displaced. Since most of the apartment housing stock is free market landlords can charge what they wish which can explain the high rents.

I was also accepted into Wagner and have had a bit of a hard time figuring out housing. An issue I have come across is that the program is 15 months long and most apartments only do 12 or 24 month leases. Grymes hill apartments used to house wagner students but they stopped that doing that this year. They also do not allow any subletting. I was wondering if anyone was planning on living on campus? I spoke with the associate director of reslife and he said he was going to try to group second degree students together. I am not sure if its easier to find something off campus or to live on campus at foundation hall.

IIRC from reading local SI newspaper (The Advance) awhile ago Wagner stopped using GHA for graduate students once Foundation Hall was up and running.

If you are not familiar with SI and are considering living off campus am here to tell you despite the bucolic and suburban nature of the place, Staten Island has wicked traffic during much of the day. This is of recent (post 1980's or so) as the place was over built with new housing and people flocked to the Island. Clove Road is one of the main arteries to the SI Expressway and is often backed up especially morning and evening rush hours. This means the further away from Wagner's campus you live more time should be allotted. More still you are taking public transportation.

so about housing- I'm from Brooklyn and will be commuting. I come from mid wood/flatbush and it will not be a fun commute. is anyone driving from brooklyn (sheepshead, bensonhurst, flatbush, midwood, bay ridge, park slope.. anywhere)??? i don't get to my computer often but I check my email on my phone- [email protected].

maybe we can do a car pool and really save on tolls and gas? :)
