VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

can you give an example of math questions? is this an hour test??? just curious? is there a fee? The fee was $150 last year and it may go up. I'm not sure. The math questions are basic addition of fractions. I honestly don't remember the math because the test was so easy. Brush up on fractions and percentages, addition and subtraction, ratio.

if i do pass this test...there is an interview? what do they ask???

There is an interview to see how you look. Why you want to be a nurse....blah....blah...To tell you that the program is stressful and you shouldn't work full time.....Most people who get called for the interview are pretty much in the program.

also when i spoke to the woman on the phone they said to bring my birth certificate and high school diploma? I think you can take your transcript just to pick up the application but I don't know what will happen after that. They are very strict about what they want.

although.... isnt veeb for one year somthing like 10-12k with books etc? YES.

since i am not from here i am just worried.... do employers see VEEB as a great highly regarded educational program for lpns? YESYESYES. Veeb puts out nearly 200 students a year and focuses on making great LPNS alone.

also ...if you had 54 units.... would you just suck it up and go for the bsn at adelphi or malloy? YES but it depends....if you want to spend that much money. Those schools are very expensive. Do you want to be a hairstylist and go to school or do you want to become a LPN and go to school for the BSN?

like i said i am going to test at veeb but would really like to understand more since i am not able to get much info out the the receptionists over the phone. They won't tell you anything... LOL. There are two of them and I think they are trained to not give out much info. Believe me but I know how u feel. I was in your shoes last year. BEST of luck!! Where do you live. I ask only because I tell everyone don't be discouraged by the distance. Most people carpool from Brooklyn or Queens even though the school is in LI!

Yesterday, i went to Veeb in Nassau County. i took an application for the entrance exam scheduled for the 27 th febrary. However, it is a lot money for i spend like 12 dollars for the LIRR because i'm living in brooklyn. I'm praying a lot so that i can find someone lives in brooklyn because i will need carpool for the location.

You will. Don't worry you WILL. What time do you have to be there? I live in Brooklyn but I drive and many people do not. I have a carpool with three of us. Works out great. I will be in clinicals that week so I can't give you a ride. SORRY. But study a basic math and reading book. BEST OF LUCK!

Thank you, but i already know i'm going to past the entrance exam and nail the interview. My only problem is about transportation. I have to find someone for the coming session 2008-2009.

Yes you do. Do you know anyone who may be interested? I met a girl that lives five blocks from me the day I tested. On the first day of school I met another one who lives four blocks. A lot of people from Flatbush usually come to Veeb every year. Just don't be afraid to open your mouth. Make sure you make an agreement with them on the gas price from the beginning. Noone likes to be/feel used. Anything beats jumping on that LIRR. You will be fine. You sound confident. Just ace the exam and be a charmer in the interview.

Well, i'm trying to be a positive person as much as possible.

the reason why, i'm not going to be discourage because the school is too far. I will find my way.

;)

I thought the test was extremely easy. I used the study guide for the board of ed's cnet exam. I did not take the cnet exam because I got into VEEB. Two friends of mine passed board of ed's exam also but decided to attend Veeb. They stated Veeb's entrance exam was easier. However Veeb is very intense. You HAVE 2 STUDY!!!!! BEST OF LUCK!

Hi, I am to take the veebs exam soon, and i just wanted to know do you still have the study guide from the board of ed. If I am not mistaking It was the study guide you did study from. I will be able to pay you for the originals of copies.

thanks.

I am currently attending VEEB and all I can say is its a good school. I live in Brooklyn and I have a one year old, its going to be hard at first but if your studying you have no problem passing. The teachers are there to help you out and to be honest they can be tough but they want to see you pass. I have never had a problem with the exams because when you attend tutoring it helps a whole lot. I have a 92 average in almost every class and the only way that happened is because alot of the students formed study group and we helped each other. If you have strong will and power all of you will pass. If you need anymore help or info just drop me a message.

Bye

Would you happen to have any study material to pass the entrance exam? i will need it asap. I will be glad to pay for the originals or the copies.

I am so sorry but I lent it to a friend who will be taking the Board of Ed test. Do you have a GED book? The BOE test material was not like Veeb's test. Veeb's test was easier so basically I overstudied. However the school is fast and harder like I have mentioned. The thing people complain about with the entrance test is the time. You have to move fast.

First of all, i have the study guide from the Board ed. Since, i heard the Veeb exam is much easier so i won't need to buy another one.

So Akanini could you explain the Veeb entrance exam? How fast it is?

so that i can prepare better for it.
