VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Well sheshe1, three of us on this thread will be starting VEEB in September with you and have been searching for information as well. TriniAngel, who I must say has been our "Veeb Angel" has been providing us with information on this thread and we all are so thankful to her.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum. I will be attending veeb in the fall with two of my girlfriends. I wanted to know any advice that you can give us. Reading these entries are nerve racking and I did not even start the program. Does anyone have any advice? :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

Welcome, Sheshe. I see you made it to the board. Whatever info you have we're all ears. We are all here to share our thoughts and advises to one another. Any question you may have just asked the board and someone will hopefully have some of the answer if not all.

Once more welcome Sheshe to the Veeb Club!

As we discussed, I spoke w/ Jacksonville they informed me I can take classes geared for the RN program, but their is no online school but Excelsior that has direct LPN to BSN program.

They said, it'll be best to go to a local community or unversity to obtain the RN. Excelsior does sound good if Helen Fuld doesn't come throught, but in all honesty. The Fundelmental of Nursing is better when you have the classroom setting and your clinicals are hands on, instead of online. I think its best to take my shot w/ Helen and then I can go to Jacksonville for the remaining classwork.

*** Their really picky down here w/ the education, and you do have competition. I need an online school that would be exceptable for my masters if I plan to continue, which most likely I will. I think I'm going to go around asking the hospital recruiters how they feel about hiring w/ the online degree(some online not all). I know Memorial Sloan Kettering its not bad interms of hiring online degree, but their systems are not updated and alot of the nurses complain about doing manual paperwork.

I'm gonna try to put my HR skills to work; I'll let you know what I find out about the online degree, before you wined up waisting money.

Yeah dime.....Excelsior is the ONLY LPN to RN (associates degree) school online that would be feasible for us since we have most of the core education credits. Indiana State University is the only LPN to BSN program online. I agree with you that there is nothing better than a traditional school setting, but I am a Plan B person. Helene Fuld still remains our #1 goal once we maintain that 85% in VEEB, however I have enough confidence to believe that Excelsior is just as great. I know it may be hard to do the program at your own pace but if I can't depend or count on MYSELF, than I can't count on anyone. I REFUSE to sit around and wait for schools in NY to accept/reject me into their program. As we all know, it is so difficult to get into any nursing program in NYC.

Very true my sister....Time is not an option. I see your point and will definitely have that plan B. Your very realistic; whereas my dreams can get the best of me. Consider it motivations and perserverance.

Thanks Akanini!

Hi ladies dime here!

Please send(pm) me your email. I will pickup the info I had informed you previously about (the bridge program). I asked what was on the paperwork and was told it has to the w/ anatomy. Just as TriniAngel provided. Cells, organ etc.

Those of you who are interested you know what to do. I'll forward via attachment to your email. I asked Sheshe1 to also get her friend to tell us what to expect on the entrance assessment they plan to give us during orientation.

Akanini, I think you will find this thread interesting. This is just like the discussion we were having.

Dime, I read that exact same link before. I am addicted to this site and I LOVE to read so I have been doing my research. I DO NOT plan to go through The College Network if I use Excelsior. It would be a complete waste of money. I'll go directly to the source. I have already investigated what exams I would need to take for Excelsior. I'm a little peeved though that Excelsior will not take VEEB's A&P because it's not at the college level. From what I gather though, because VEEB is a vocational school, we will have to take A&P over no matter which college we go to. However, I'm sure there is a way to CLEP out of the course.

Guys...Let me know what's the verdict..Check your emails!!!

We must have the same mind because I just checked right before this and already sent you a thank you. Thanks so much!!!

Como estas mi amigas? Muy bien? Good.

Back from Helen Fuld Open House. Met up w/ a couple of veeb students...

Wll give the lowdown 2morrow.

Just bumping to keep us in the game!:D;)
