I everyone, I need your help. I applied to nyp and after the application process it said I don't meet the requirements. I have all the requirements, I have a BSN, I have 10 years of nursing assistant, new graduate etc. I don't know whats the problem. Please someone let me know.

kemifair have you tried the previous hospital and acute care center you were NA at? Most hospitals/centers do not hesitate to hire or promote their own employees especially since you worked for them so many years.[/quote']

Its a nursing home and they don't take new RNs.

I, have been trying to get into nyp. They told me I need experience for the new graduate position. I don't understand these hopitals.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

As explained earlier since you graduated 5 years ago you are not considered a new grad. A new nurse, yes. But a new grad is someone who graduated in the last 6-12 months.

It's frustrating. Perhaps try for a non-hospital position to get that 'magical' one year paid nursing experience.

Besides being out of school for 5 years, which whether or not you have worked...... you are new grad no longer .......the NYP website it states.....

New Graduate Nursing

3.0 GPA or higher, and experience in an acute care setting outside of clinical rotations such as nurses' aide experience or externships.

You worked on LTC right? So that does not fulfill their requirements........ Find a position at a LTACH (long term acute care) acute care patients that have "run out" of "hospital days"....these facilities actually have intensive care units.
