Lehman College Nursing program 2013

U.S.A. New York

Hi everyone,

I recently applied to lehman's nursing program for admittance into the Fall 2013 semester. Is there anyone who is already in the program, that can let me know what kind of scores on the HESI and gpas were accepted? I have a 3.9 GPA but I only got an 86 overrall on the HESI exam, so I am really nervous. I hope I get in, it's all I've ever wanted to be. Thanks for whoever replies to this.

Hi up_a_hill!

During orientation it was mentioned for accelerated student the cut off for this past incoming class was a 3.7, and for generic students a 3.5. I don't think they really put much emphasis on your previous degree gpa.

Now i only applied to generic and I was accepted with a 3.9 gpa and I received an 86 on the HESI exam. I think the gpa and HESI exam is what is looked at mostl

Sorry I couldn't give much info specifially about the accelerated, hope this helps!

I hope they don't look at previous gpa because I wouldn't have a shot! I guess I am going to have to buss my butt to get a 4.0 in my sciences and the HESI. I took psych 101 and got an A but that doesn't seem to be a requirement for Lehman (was considering downstate initially). Thanks toya932!

They don't look at your previous GPA, only your pre-req GPA and HESI score. The cut off for accelerated for the incoming Fall 2013 class was a 3.78 and for generic about a 3.5. They also don't allow you to repeat courses so if you took a lot of the pre-req's before, they may not consider you for admission...but if you haven't taken any yet (or took them and did well), you're good to go.

Psych 101 isn't a requirement, but developmental psych is, so be sure to have that completed before you apply.

Lastly, START THE ADMISSION PROCESS EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything at Lehman (and I do mean everything!!!!!!!!!!!) is a long line with A LOT of red tape. Make copies of EVERYTHING you hand in. The nursing department itself is pretty much on top of things, but all other offices have a tendency to lose your information.

Best of luck! Study hard, get as close to a 4.0 in your pre-req's as possible, and you'll be fine.

Thanks Destin293. I am registered for developmental psych this semester and will take A&P 1 and 2 and micro next year god willing! I am taking pre req online through SUNY Cayuga (work f/t and have 3 kids) but I will prob take organic chem (and possibly chem 1 if not offered at Cayuga) at Lehman when the time comes. Thanks again

Hi @2Jeanne

I was wondering if you could give an update on how your experience at Lehman has been? Or anyone else in the program? Thanks.

Hi guys,

I am applying to the FALL 2015 program and have a quick question. Do clinicals usually end on time like 7PM, or does it end 10-15 minutes late often or sometimes 30 minutes or more after 7:00?

Thanks!
