Who else is taking the NLN this coming monday/tuesday at kingsborough? What are everyone's thoughts of science 25?? Any concerns, comments, questions please feel free to discuss them here. Future applicants feel free to ask any questions, too!

Cant wait until clinicals! Currently have a 3.97 prereq GPA, completed all prereqs except for bio 51. All A's, aside from sci 25 with an A-

So they don't really need unless u work in a hospital right?

I've never filled one out, yea basically if you work in the hospitals or nursing homes so they place you there for your clincal!

Loki heard the opposite so they don't place u where u work..

So they don't really need unless u work in a hospital right?

Not working in hospital - do not need form. Work in hospital - need form.

Opps sorry guys made a typo! I meant so they don't place you where you work =]

The semester is slowly creeping up, guys. I can already tell I wont be having much of a social life...I pray its worth it all in the end!

You can have a social life, partying every weekend maybe not. I still managed to go out through the first two semesters and have fun. You need some time to yourself or you will go insane!!

If study groups work for you find some good study buddies. I love my study group we have become really good friends, mesh well, have the same goals in mind and push eachother to do well. Study a little everyday leave nothing for last minute!

Some other study tips depending on how you learn, I learn best by listening attentively in class and hand writing my own outlines. I take my notes from class, powerpoints, and notes I made from my text book and combine them all making a seperate outline for each subject on the test blueprint. I start the outlines wayyy before the test, usually after each subject is covered in class that way it sticks and I can review little by little up untill the test. About a week before the test I do anywhere from 500-1500 practice questions from all different sources, and whatever areas I'm weak in I review.

I learned That the hardest thing for many ppl is taking the knowledge you learned and applying it to test questions ., so practice practice practice!!! Can't stress that enough.

It'll be worth it. Have you looked into opportunities post graduation? I research on lots of nursing field specialties and get inspired every time. It drives my motivation that much more by doing that. That's just me (i prefer to think positively) Only about a month away until orientation, and two very very short years until graduation. I saw some entry level MSN FNP programs that skips Bsn altogether the other day. So many paths one can take after passing the NCLEX. That's I'm not afraid of the accreditation issues of kbcc. It's seriously not the end-all/be-all everyone is so worked up about. Best thing is them getting it back, worst thing is that you can STILL sit for the nclex (and move on to bigger and better things after that).. Sorry last part was a bit of a /rant. Lol

Oh by the way.. Had to drop bio 51 off my schedule. Hoping to catch the class during the winter or spring. Been thinking of doing it elsewhere (non-cuny but is fully accredited) but im worried kbcc won't accept credits from other places. Guess i gotta get that sorted out

I'm looking into downstate as a main possibility and going to start researching some online programs. As far as accredidation I'm hoping they get it back before June if not it's not that big a deal for me. Students from the last graduating semester were accepted into downstate so I think I stand a chance. Like you said either way you sit for the NCLEX and once you pass your still an RN.

Try to get into bio51 for the winter. Go talk to the dept keep checking if any sections open up. Some ppl did e-permits but they had some trouble getting approved. I would check with the school if they'll accept the credits from outside the Cuny system before going that route.

@nursingstudentjess I got all my medical documents turned in!! :) whew! just curious what is required to be turned next semester? I heard there wasnt as much but I am just scared I have to go through this every semester with all the lab testing.

I hope you made copies of all those documents because they will require you to hand in copies of the same documents for second semester! Rule of thumb anything you give to the nursing dept make copies!!!!!

I made 4 copies!! haha So they will take the exact same documents from a semester before? thats kind of weird they make you do that. I can understand the CPR card and , hmmm well at least I dont have to go to the physician again :)
