Kingsborough Fall 2014 Clinical Applicants!

Published

Who else is taking the NLN this coming monday/tuesday at kingsborough? What are everyone's thoughts of science 25?? Any concerns, comments, questions please feel free to discuss them here. Future applicants feel free to ask any questions, too!

Cant wait until clinicals! Currently have a 3.97 prereq GPA, completed all prereqs except for bio 51. All A's, aside from sci 25 with an A-

Correct, the physical is annual.

I am excited to meet everyone on Tuesday! Can you believe (if all goes as planned), we will be taking the NCLEX in less than 2 years?? It's four semesters but if you count the months from now, it's not even 2 years. Ahhh!!! My friend was making fun of me for being the "most optimistic person she's ever met". :( LOL

By the way, I sent in my medical paperwork on wednesday and the nurse in A101 did not have a chance to review it yet (I've called on thursday and friday). It's making me nervous, as the deadline is really soon.

The time will fly by quick!! I can't believe I finished a year already. Being optimistic is good, it will give you motivation to do your best =] When I dropped off my paperwork the nurse told me they were a little behind with the health clearances. You can try going on Tuesday after orientation & see if your clearance is ready.

I hope it will be done by Tuesday - because that's the deadline!!!

Congrats on your one year anniversary with kingsborough nursing program!! :)

is there a checklist given of everything we need to turn in for the next semester or is it online? just curious

do the nur 17 and 18 professors write out alot of notes? a simple notebook would do then, right?

I never had a professor write out notes, there are basic power points that base the lectures but you have to take your own detailed notes from the lecture. I personally print out all the power points and take my notes on the slides.

The school is telling us to get the 9th edition of the Kozier Fundamentals of Nursing, however, I already have the 8th. Is the 8th just as good? does the 9th have any more info we may need?

It should be similar, the 9th version may just have some updated info .. You should be able to make do with the 8th edition.

And to (most likely) close it off, whats the best piece of advice you could give to a student taking both bio 12 and Fundamentals of nursing?

Thank you for all your helpful advice, jess.

How's the semester going so far??

brutal. Our first exam is monday, ive been doing nothing but practice questions and reading. my god, there is so so so much reading. do you have any advice for the first exam? We are being tested on health assessment, nursing process, apesis, vital signs, legal, sleep, stress, and communication.

This program is no joke.
