Hi everyone, I'm hoping for some info on specific programs in NY. Mainly the college of staten island, NYU, and ST. vincents medical center. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into these programs? staten island and St. Vincent's are associates degrees and nyu has the second BS degree that includes the prerequisites. I'd really appreciate any info. Thanks!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I heard good things about Saint Vincent. NYU's second degree program is just too expensive. It is $14,000 per semester. I don't want to incur that large of a debt since I will not get any financial aid since I have a degree already. 4 semesters at that rate is just too much money. I have not heard anything about CSI although a girl in my A&P class went there, she did not elaborate good or bad about the school.

St Vincent's is a very good school (718) 818-4066. They have a high rate of passing State Boards on the first try. They offer an associate degree.

Staten Island College also offers an associate degree (718) 982-2000. Give them a call and they will be glad to discuss their requirements. They also have a good passing rate for Boards.

NYU offers a five? years program I believe, and expensive.

Good Luck!! :nurse:

Thank you Rock, What school did you attend ? Is st. Vin held on SI or in the city? yhanx, Joe

St Vincent Manhattan closed a couple of years ago. St Vincent, Staten Island is at Bayley Seton Hospital. The program is two (2) years in length, which includes some summer sessions.

I would advise you to apply now, then start liberal arts credits at any community college. If you apply now, you could get admitted in September 2006. The nursing program is difficult enought without being concerned with liberal arts credits.

I did not attend St Vincent, but I did work for them for a few years.

I graduated Excelcior College in Albany.

Hope the information is helpful

PS I have been retired for some time now, but enjoy helping people starting

out in Nursing.

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Best of luck to you in whatever school you decide. :)

just to let you know, CSI also offers a BSN program.

(I as one will not go there, as when i was a freshman in college, one of the instructors [who did not know I already was a nurse] looked at my high school transcripts and told me with my grades I would never become a good nurse ever.

I told her as I was leaving her office, that I was already an LPN for a year, and 1 poor grade from my sophomore year in high school, and taking off a year to work was no criteria to judge me in my nursing abilities.. (graduated lpn school with honors.)

My mother Graduated from CSI's Adn program in 96, she did well..

CSI now has a 4 year program and even offers a masters.
