Hi everyone, I'm hoping for some info on specific programs in NY. Mainly the college of staten island, NYU, and ST. vincents medical center. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into these programs? staten island and St. Vincent's are associates degrees and nyu has the second BS degree that includes the prerequisites. I'd really appreciate any info. Thanks!
I wanted to apply to St Vincent's Nursing Program and i wanted to know if anyone is currently in it, or has graduated from it and could give me some information on it, anything anyone could say would be wondeful. With taking up this program, @ the end of it are you going to be an RN? Is it very hard? What are the teachers like? What is the school like? PLEASE, anything anyone could say i would deeply apprieiciate it. If you could leave me a message on here that would be so wonderful.
Anything @ all.
Thank you guys!

No nursing program in the United States, makes you a RN, that is reserved for those who pass the boards and meet the state's license requirements. Upon graduating from St. Vincent's or any other nursing program one is a "GN" (graduate nurse).
As with St. Vincent's Queens, the school of nursing in Staten Island has been sold and is under new management, so there are bound to be changes. Therefore those who attended pre-takeover may have a different experience than those coming afterwards.
Being as the above may, know lots of grads from the program, and they are great nurses. Then again am from Staten Island which was and still is kind of like a small town in certian ways, and most of the hosptials at one time were staffed by local nursing grads (Wagner, College of Staten Island and St. Vincent's).
If you really want to know about the school strongly urge you to contact them and go for a tour/interview.

i am a graduate of saint vincent's and advise anyone looking into nursing to check them out.
they are a 2 year program however, i would suggest taking classes in the following areas before hand to avoid taking them along with your nursing classes:
anatomy/physiology 1 and 2, microbiology, and a second level english class.
