New Mexico Licensure Question

U.S.A. New Mexico

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

btw, don't worry about the schedules as there are plenty of vacancies. you can view them as soon as you have your eligibility sent by the BON/BRN to pearson vue.

Indulgence to all... Please allow me to post this question again.. thank you...

Warmest greetings!

I am also a foreign nurse who is duly licensed as an RN with the State of New Mexico. Now I am applying for the visacreen program of CGFNS. According to their website a LICENSE VALIDATION from state of New Mexico and and a transmittal of NCLEX PASSING TEST RESULTS is needed.

I was able to see in New Mexico's website the license verification form for cgfns through this link http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/VERIFICATIONSfee.pdf. My question is that sending NMBON this form with proper payment of 30 dollars will cover both the LICENSE VALIDATION and the NCLEX PASSING TEST RESULTS? Or do i need to send this nursys form via this link https://www.nursys.com/includes/proc...rification.pdf to have my NCLEX PASSING TEST RESULTS separately transmitted to CGFNS.

I am hoping that you can enlighten me on this one.

You only need the first one. A licensure verification coming from a State BON already connotes having passed the NCLEX exam since one cannot have a license w/o passing the NCLEX. However, the reverse is not always the case. For example, CA BRN can send verification of having passed the NCLEX but could not send a license verification since they do not give licenses to applicants who don't have a valid US SSN.

Also, nursys is only between State BON or BRN (where applicable) that is why NM need to have a separate license verification specifically for CGFNS. All license verification forms that will be sent to other State BON/BRN, only the nursys form can be used.

Also, NM accepts the license verification form for CGFNS/ICHP via Fax if you can provide your credit card number as mode of payment. Bank draft would, of course, mean sending in the form via mail.

Thank you very much for the info, Lawrence.

I hope there are out there who underwent exactly the same process and who would like to comment. Additional info is highly appreciated.

You only need the licence verification from NM. Go ahead and request it via fax or through mail. NM BON will send a license verification to ICHP for the visa screen per your request. That is it. Remember, if have a license in the Philippines, you will be sending a license verification from PRC to be sent to CGFNS/ICHP as well. CGFNS will not ask for a board certification or your grades in the NLE, they only need the license verification form as that connotes having passed the NLE already. Same thing from all other US State BON that gives licenses w/o a US SSN.

It is actually those that do not give licenses (such as CA BRN) that a passing of test results is given in lieu if the license verification since there is no license to verify.

hello guys! for the NM applicants who submited their papers already which CES did you use and what were the papers that you submitted? are they all asking the same requirements?

thanks in advance

hello moderators. hello NM applicants. i want to ask if the CES requires a TSE or an ielts cert to be submitted together with my papers?? did i read it right?

The new CES is an 'open service' in terms of English Proficiency exam req't. It is only required if the BON to whom it will send it's report requires it. If it does not or if it waives it upon request by the applicant (for reason of local nursing program being taught in English) then it does not. The CES now is pretty much tailored to what the BON wants. There are also 2 types of CES, it is also the BON that has the say on w/c one they want.

To know if your BON requires an English Prof. exam or will waive it for you or what type of CES they require you need to visit your respective Board's website.

That being said, if you do not have any intentions to work and live in NM, and it now requires CES, why even apply to them. Most are ditching NM as their first choice already and are applying to another State BON that still does their own evaluation and still does not have a US SSN req't for initial licensure.

hi der..i have downloaded Nm application forms for NClex..I've only got 3 pages..is that all?..im not sure if the forms are complete..what are the requirements needed?..where will i send it?..thanks...

The complete instructions are included there, from fees, reqt's for foreign educated nurse and the address of the Boards.

And like I said, from the previous posts. If you do not have any intentions on working in NM, it is not a good choice for a "walk-through" state, anymore. They have now turned almost 360 degrees from being lenient to being very strict.

This is the new application form. The whole package is 11 pages.

thanks for the info..

if you applied for NCLEX in NM and luckily passed the exam, does this mean that you can't work in other states?..

You need to apply for Licensure by Endorsement for that State and will entail another fee and when you add all the fees up it usually end up being more expensive since it entails you to: 1) pay for the endorsement fee, w/c will be the same as their Licensure by Examination fee and in some States even higher, 2) you need to pay a fee from your originating State to send a License Verification to the new State, 3) each State has diff. endorsement req'ts as well, and esp. for foreign-educated nurses and some may not accept the evaluations from the originating State and will entail you to submit fresh new documents to them.

If you are endorsing to a State that does their own evaluation or requiring the same req'ts as NM (CGFNS CES), it will be worthwhile to just apply directly to them (with some exemptions) than go in a circus and just like I said from a previous post, this is the reason why some aren't choosing NM anymore and are looking at VT or similar States for their "walk-through" State for their initial licensure.
